Hey guys,

I was sorta looking for a bit of help with a couple of motorcycle issues, but you folks seem sorta caught up in a few thoughts being shared.

HMMMMmmm, I can remember all too well when I pissed off a couple of folks here. It was never a purposeful intent to just screw with someone, but I did get a real good idea of what I was coming off like, and you can bet I didn't like what I saw in myself.

I dragged some folks here through some stupid garbage that didn't need to happen. In the end run I realized that I owed a couple of apologies, and since mine are the size of croquet balls, I mustered the guts to go do that very thing as it were.

I just thought that I might mention this to you guys since you guys seem to be in some familiar waters...LOL

Now on to my Harley, and asking a few questions of you all. First off do any of you guys ride ?

I have a 88 Heritage Softail Classic that I am restoring to it's original configurations, but maybe a tweak here and there just to really make it more personable for me, you know kinda trick it out as it were.

So any riders here ? and it doesn't have to be a Harley, just a good scoot to boogie up the road on...

Yo Ho 4U2,

Too cool that you ride a nice scoot. Here is my list of things that I have learned as a rider...LOL

1. Never hesitate to ride past the last street lamp at the edge of town.

2. Young riders pick a destination and go...Oold riders pick a direction and go.

3.
Catching a yellow jacket in your shirt @ 70 mph can double your vocabulary.

4.
Gray-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck

5.
Only a Biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

6.
"It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end."

7.
Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.

Hey, a funny thought for you. You know why the Harleys have the initials HD ? Hundred Dollars

I swear my Beast is going to nickle and dime me to death, but if you do get one, you will never forget the first ride.

I rode a lot of bikes over the years, mostly Norton 750, and Triumph Bonneville. As I got older I liked the idea of slowing down, and just cruising on the backroads out in the country.

Sometimes I get rushes that are hard to describe, but since you ride also, I know that you understand that feeling of going in and out of shadows where the temp difference is enough to make you feel soooo good...

I'm just finishing up with putting in a new stator, regulator/rectifier, new crane hydraulic lifters, and a lever action solenoid. I do all my own work, so I can spend more on the Harley, but like I said I am restoring the Beast.

I will have to show you guys a pic or two.

I sold my bike a year ago...... to hot to cold to wet....... and at 48 years old to long to heel...... you ever drive a honda civic si stick shift?........ oboy is it quick and fast..... almost 30 miles to the gallon too..... and it cost about the same as a new Harley....... awesome ride in the mountains. Two wheels down my friends and wear the proper gear.

KK, when I was in my 30s my guy had a Gold Wing that was all decked out. We used to love just picking a direction and taking off. We went to the Laguna-Seca for motorcycle races a couple of times, rode up the Pacific coast, toured the wine country, and rode through giant redwoods. We had a ball. I am now more into ATVs and they are more user friendly for where I live now.

Grower 13, I have had some great cars in my day--56 Chev, 68 GTO, 70 Dodge Charger....and then I had kids. I most recently had a little Acura Integra 5 speed that I just loved. It was small and low to the ground, had a great sunroof, and went really fast. But I could only drive it about 6 months of the year. Even with studded snow tires all around, it doesn't like snow and icy roads. So when my grandson needed a car to get to a job, I gave it to him. Now grandma has to be content with her Jeep and her 4 x 4 ATV.

I never had a real big bike. In my younger days I owned a Honda 350 and a Honda 550 that I putted around on. One winter, I moved the dining room table out of the way, brought the bike in through the sliding glass doors, and pulled the engine. I took the frame back outside to spend the winter and I rebuilt the engine in my spare time through the winter. My kids, though grown now, still tell this story to their friends. My son, only about 7 at the time was enthralled. I bought him a Visible V-8 engine that we assembled together so he could see how an internal combustion engine worked.
