i am getting everything set up for when my tds meter comes in.i have everything to start 1 5 gal. bucket, plus lots more.just an experiment before i kill lots of clones, lolquestion is,do i glue the air stones to the bottom of the bucket.thanks

i never had much luck with any kind of glue. run the end of your hose thru a stainless steel nut or two. that should hold the stone down. i think stainless should do for this. someone correct me if i'm wrong. :)

guess i'm gonna try the plumbing glue i used to make the cloner with.if it doesn't last i will weigh em down somebody can delete this post.gotter done

I picked up two weighted disk shapped airstones at Pets Smart and they stay put. Plus nice round air patern should help h2o circ better.

I use the Sunleaves air stones... They are weighted and stay on the bottom on their own...

Yea I have a wormsway close... I pick up my lil stuff there.... Got another hydro store on the other side of town that carries nutes.. His store is just a lil hole in the wall, but I like to support the lil guys...

For large items I use HTG for most of it.

thanks,i've got to go tomorrow to get 1 more bag of soil to finish out my soil grow and i will get several there.what type calibrating solution do i need for the hanna pocket meter.i ordered the meter and forgot all about the solution.maybe i can get it tomorow while i'm going to the hydro shop.jusy got to reading about the hanna i ordered.real smart.should have got the spare probe also.
yeah i like to keep the little man going to.the deal with me is there is only 1 hydro shop and its about 25 miles from me.and they are extremely high on the prices too.thanks alot.

You are going with a Hanna meter? I bought one and it worked well cept the model I got does not have a replaceable electrode.

I got the Champ model and I guess I might have been a lil rough on it... stirring in Nutes with it and all... Well anyway afte only a couple months it has been knocked out of calibration range. So to get it replaced you have to send the unit in for service.. Bleh.. I do not like that so I went and got a better one...

I went back to the hydro store and bought a Eutech Instruments pHTestr Ultrabasic... It seems to be a MUCH better made unit... It is wateproof and floats... and this one does not have to be stored wet like that model of the hanna.

wish i had asked you before i ordered the hanna.it does come with a replaceable electrode.it was a cheapie.i think around 70 bucks.sounded kinda cheap compared to my blue lab ph meter.i first bought a milwaukee instruments ph tester.didn't like it so i gave it to my son.well maybe the hanna will last til i can get a better 1.thanks casualgrower.turkeyneck,i started to buy that stuff at the pet store.i used this plumbers glue in a tube to make my bubble cloner and so far its held pretty good.been in constant use to.my girl has gone crazy doing flowers, with lots of success too.surprised me,lol.she didn't know it but she was my experiment to see how it works.i haven't used it for mj yet.the method hick told me about works like a charm for me.
i'll check the hydro store this morning and see what they have.might buy a better one,if they have them.seems like everything i need they are sold out of.okay gentlemen, have a good day and i appreciate all the help.

well they didn't have any decent tds meters at the hydro shop.i did get the round air stones tho.alot better than those flat things and weighted.so cool.bought my last bag of soil also.thank god.tired of paying 20 bucks a pop fpr dirt.then just dump it out.screw that.wish i would have went hydro from the start.thanks casualgrower.

I think you are going to like hydro. It was the buying, hauling, mixing, and disposing of the dirt that convinced me to go with hydro from the start. I had read that you should have a few dirt crops under your belt before you try hydro, but went ahead anyway. I never had any big problems.

thanks hemp, yeah i bought my last bag of ffof yesterday.20 bucks a pop.heck i bought a huge bag of hydroton and will never have to dump it.not counting the mess with dirt.i know my girl is tickled about me not getting soil everywhere.and the smell of the soil.i will figure this hydro out.probably mess up alot of plants, but i know i have all of you experienced people to holler help to.i have been reading anything and everything i can.today my tds probe will be here.can't wait to try to figure out how to mix these nutes.that will be another post, lol thanks to all that have helped me thru this decision.the word hydro is kinda scary to me and alot of others.just got to get past that and strive to do my best.again thanks

well i got everything i need and have 1 plant that i got from my mother, sativa dominant. its kinda destined i think.i only took 1 clone and thought i would probably kill her.i took her my usual way, clonex gel, clonex solution ,ph'd to 5.3 with distilled water.soaked the cube and placed the clone in the cube.i gave my little clear plastic tent thing to my girl for her seedlings.so i just sat it in my living room with a small desk top lamp shining on it.with a grocery store bag stretched over the top, with holes punched into it.kinda for a dome.heck it never wilted a bit.i did use some no-wilt spray on it also.today is 5 days,i think,4-5 anyway.i added a little nutes today after i got my tds meter.calibrated it,and got that dang calibrating solution on my finger.i took it up to just 370 ppm.hope thats not too high.i might be wrong, but i think this is going to be easier than dirt farming.kinda boring tho,i'm so used to constantly doing something to my dirt plants.and i do not have to transplant, whoopie.lolshes in the 5 gal bucket, hopefully not where she will die at.lol ok,i'm excited about this.kinda wish i had started about 4-5 clones in dwc.thanks hemp lady and casualgrower and the others that helped me get started on the right foot.very much appreciated.

AWESOME andy.. put that green thumb to work.....Hydro is soo kewl...

My next grow should be interesting... Using the bagseed mothe I have used for the last couple grows.... Well 2 mothers actually..... gona bloom them out and I got some seeds on the way to start some new genetics...... They have vegged under some decent light and have really tight nodes.... so it should be a HUGE cola..... I HOPE.. I usually grow 12 plants at a time and only going with 2 on the next one.... scary heh.

I might do a journal on it.

thats all good.why just the 2 plants?must have a good stash huh,lol my veg and clone tent is empty right now.i decided to put everything into flower at the same time.a couple weeks before they finish i will start some more seeds.just needed a break after the frustration i had getting everything all at once.stressful starting out un-prepared as i was.
i've seen your grows and i know it will be killer.guess what,i got my tds meter, calibrated it,added a little nutes to baby, knocked the tds off the storage closet shelf i had it laying on.think i need to re-calibrate it.at least it still comes on.scared the hell out of me.wish i had got one that floats too.its a b trying to hold it and see the reading.
just be glad when the weather cools off.thats why i backed off on starting more right now.i want to get my basement set up and ready to go before i start anything else.gotta get some electrical work done first also.only got 1 outlet i can use down there now.i want extra outlets as i seem to fill them up with something.
appreciate it all and good luck with the giant colas my friend.

Well I had 12 clones up and vegging but I have sorta neglected them and they are not looking too good... and since I have new genetics on the way. Might as well put the mothers to work...

Basically I got lazy in the cloning process.... I used straight wate to clone and neve set the PH on it... They rooted fine, but now I am getting a bunch of leaf curling and all.... some nute lock out and stuff... Rather than nurse a dozen plants back to health.. Just start fresh.

Current grow has a couple weeks left to finish up...

sounds good.i decided to flower my mother.she is sativa dominant and they just take to long in flower.right now anyway.this way,at the moment i have nothing in my veg area.gonna let the flowering ones get close to finish and start from seed.then i will pick a mother to keep.i just got beat down fighting heat until i got my portable ac unit.take a little break for a while.cooler weather is coming and i want to move to the basement anyway.thanks alot

oops i forgot about the little girl i have in the dwc.so far she is doing well.if she makes it i might keep her for a mother.if she looks good.sativa
