I've never seen one before. It is a Himalayan Gold from Green House. Are these common? How did this happen? Does it make any difference when growing? Thanks

This is a very common anomaly. It has a name that I cannot remember right now....triploid....something like that? I have found that most of them are male, although not all. It really has no affect on the growth of the plant, but I love the way they look from the top as they grow.

it happens........got a happy little seed, just wants to grow!

....it's called "whorld phyllotaxy" :).

It got born tarded, had me couple like that born tarded too but we still loves them and raise them up our own then we killem and jammem into pipes and papers and loves them even more ;)

LOL--well, I wasn't even close. Thanks, Hick.

dont feel bad My LAdie..I was thinking same thing untill Hicks post...then ran search...

well, it sticks in my mind because the first one I ever had, I thought tri-ploid as well. But I was lucky enough to belong to a 'forum' where I was promptly corrected. ;)
a triploid has 3 times the number of chromosomes in the nucleus of the cell, "I think"...

If I remember correctly, whorled plants usually wind up males. But if it is a female, I think they're usually exceptional producers yeild wise anyway.

Triploids are sterile. I have had two whorld phyllotaxy's that both turned out to be male.

I had one that was female all the way and seemed to produce about the same as her much prettier sisters :)

I was told at the time it was a "triploid" -- glad to know the actual word.

thanks HIck

Peace

Thanks, It is suppose to be a feminized seed or thats what was ordered anyways. I will post more as it gets bigger.

Only one ways to figure out what it be, just grow it and love it and see ifin it love yual back ifin yual know what I mean. Heck whats it hurt, have the fun is the growin before the best part, the smokin.

I have had a few of them. (All of them were female since I used feminised seeds.) They eventually started growing in alternating pairs like ordinary sprouts.
