There is a possibility for a 45 degree night coming up and my little boys (hopefully girls) will have only been in the ground outside for about a week. I know that can't be too good for them. Is there any effective way to trap any of the warmth that they otherwise would lose? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thank You,
YoungBud

45 degree C or F?

I presume you mean 45F and your worried about a frost, cut a plastic soda bottle in half and put the soda bottle over your plants until morning, the ambient temp inside the soda bottle will be 3-4 degrees warmer than without the soda bottle protection.

Every problem has a solution.

Yea, thats a good idea, lol. I do that when cloning.:p

soda bottle, 5 gallon bucket, even a gallon jug. you can go as far as insulating it by duct taping a towel or even thin insulation around the outside. this little extra step can save a tenderling's life.

good tip hippy ;)

I have seen 5gal containers with the top and bottoms cut off, placed over plants, with a sheet of glass placed on top. The glass can be moved to provide ventilation.

Here in France the locals use clear sheet plastic tubes over tomato and pepper crops early in the season. These are tied shut top and bottom against the supporting stake. I think they maybe perforated.

I'm going to look for some soon, as I hope they will help my crop blend in.

in reality, they call it weed for a reason, not to be blunt or anything. But i left my plants outside in freezing weather and they came out fine the next morning. I know there is a possibility of them getting messed up and its not the healthiest thing for them. My plants turned a little purple after that. If your real worried about it though, listen to the guys above me. they definately obviously know what they are talking about hahaha. and just to clarify, that night i left them out, it was supposedly 31 degrees

I wouldn`t worry about 45 Degrees. They will be fine. 28 or less then you have to worry. I had the leaves burn off a plant and it came back too get head high.
