is it true they only grow up 2 1/2 feet? if not wat is the correct hight? also wat type of florecent bulb should i use and wer could i buy 1? plz help im a complete noob!

It all depends on how tall you let them get before you start your flowering cycle. once you have started flowering the will double or even tripple in size. you can let the get as big as you want. so if flowered at 12 inches that that would be about 2 1/2 feet.
