what parts of male plants carry over in breeding

if i had one tall plant that had a great yeild that i wanted to breed with a mid sized plant that had alot better color and smell witch one should i pollanate with the other does sertan traits of the male carry over and do i need to back cross both to make a stable cross so i would have to pollinate one with the other twise to get a full cross i want the med.plants taste and color and the large plants huge yeild and faster bud cycle

what strains.?.and Have you done any reading on the subject?
 
I carrie any traits it's dna contains. It is a living organism. Look at a trait chart on any kids science website.
 
Some strains have been back crossed hundreds if not thousands of times.
