This was posted on another site by a member. I was wondering what everyone thinks about this chart. I've really never thought about changing the spectrum throughout the grow like this. It recommends a 10k bulb for the last week of flowering...interesting.

Idk but I didn't like the 4k bulbs at all. I'd could see switching between 5k, 5.5k and 6.5k. Seems like a lot of extra work though. I might try the 10k MH the last week of flowering. You can get those purty cheap:D.

sounds like a lot of bulbs to buy to just grow a weed. don't see how only 1 week of the 10K could do anything that would warrant the cost of the bulb. but hey worth a shot if your that curious.

:watchplant: I have been using the UVB this grow and it does look like the trichs closer to the lamp are a bit larger[optical illusion??] I'll know for sure when I harvest ;)
:farm: the changing of spectrums seems to make some sense insofaras the ripening of the trichs :hubba:

I just found out some info Bomb, maybe you can tell me if this is inline with what the chart says.

First off, does a higher "K"rating mean more lumens?? Or is that just spectrum?

The reason I ask is I had a good talk with some folks over the weekend. They are big growers who supply to the medical clubs. Anyway, they know thier stuff.
The new "thing" they are testing is increasing lumens during the last week of flower.

Basically, they just lower the lights to the canopy. I am talking about RIGHT over the plants. It is a FINE line as to not burn up the plants, but Resin production is GREATLY increased by doing so. They have done this the last few clicks and have seen a huge difference to trays they leave alone, or "normal" light from plant distance.

This makes sense to me, as a plant produces resin to help difuse heavy light form the plant.

Something to try I guess.

Great find, BBP :)

It would be cool to see the difference in a few plants grown under this cycle.

No it is Kelvin the measure of spectrum. Not the same as lumens or light intensity. Just what part of the spectrum the light is.

increased resin production is the plants response to heat and drying out from the lamp. how the plant protects itself from drought in nature. ;)

where would you get something like that at?
Really, Ann, I never paid attention to what type bulbs these were. The poster only posted this pic to show the chart.

Onr things for sure...it would last a loooong time just using it 1 week at the end of flower:laugh: . I've always wanted to see how plants would veg under a 10k too. If i'm not mistaken I can get them for $15, shipping included.

Hey, Ann I found you a link to the bulbs:).

I've switched from a solid HPS regimen (400watt then to my 1000watt) to this schedule: The first 2 weeks (rooting) I've always used my oldschool T5 light fixture for my primary cloning light, so disregard...veg weeks 3 thru 5: Conversion bulb-Metal Halide (this makes the internode distance alot shorter) 1st week of bloom to end of 2nd week: Replace the ConvMH with the High Pressure Sodium 400watt towards the end of bloom-week 2. {THIS SERIOUSLY ******* STRETCHING...huh huh huh...*******...}End of 3rd bloom week to Harvest: 1000watt HPS. {THIS IS THE TIME I TRANSPLANT TO MY BIG-ole 5 GAL POTS}It worked to have fuller buds down the length whereas straight HPS lighting gave me fatter DD buds but not as full down the stemlength. Pickin' up what I'm puttin down, jackson brown? With strict HPS lighting I'd have to deadhead quite a few of the whispy weak buds but with alternating lamp types I HAVE NOTICED A DEFINATE EVERSOSLIGHT (15%-20% harvested weight appreciation) INCREASE IN PRODUCTION. Take care everyone...and remember...the Freedom of Speech is touted about most vocally by those who wish to OFFEND then scream oppression when their unpleasantness is ridiculed.
