if i plant in the ground how often would you say i would have to water them

as often as they need it...depends on the ground, the weather, the plant, growth stage probably, and if you feel like gettin up and doin it! ive heard of waiting till leaves droop a little and do it one day sooner the next time .good luck

ive heard to stick your finger in the ground near the roots 2-4 inches to see how moist the soil is and go by that you can also set up and irrigation system ive heard that works well outdoors

TOTALLY dependant on the soil conditions, size/stage/growth rate of the plant, and weather conditions.
In general, somewhere between 3 days and 3 weeks.. :)

Hick is right. some ground drys out a lot faster than other. If your plants a little they will hurt a lot more during dry spells than if they are big and have lots of leaves to store water. You will always get a big jump in groth right after a long soaking rain. A lot more than from watering. Sometimes watering just keeps them alive when its really dry. Learn to judge the other plants in your area even the grass. When the other plants are stressing or looking thirsty then so are your plants.

When you have taught your eyes to see with more than simple sight you will learn to read a plant, watch the leaves, when she is healthy and thirsty, the leaves will start to droop, this is not a problem, weed is a weed and is from an arid climate, the plant through thousands of years gets watered sporadically then is left with no water for as long as nature decides, the genes are programmed for this, they can shrivel and dry crispy leaves and when the rain comes it bounces back, so take this on board when watering, look at her with love and passion when fully moistured and you will see how she is at her peak, when she droops leaves she is saying its time for a drink, it does not hurt her to go a few days thirsty, when she drinks she will rebound and put a big spurt of growth on because she knows the next drink may be a while away, weed is ready and willing to be abused by drought.
