As the November issue of The 420 Times reports, increasing numbers of people are enrolling in medical marijuana training programs with hopes of finding employment in the emerging industry.

The unemployed in California are going back to school—but not to the type of school you would expect.

The story, entitled “Back to School: Medical Marijuana Training Programs,” is planned for release on Friday, November 20, 2009.

Brian Lancer, editor of the magazine, remarked, “We thought it was interesting that people were starting training programs for medical marijuana. That was great.

But what we found even more interesting was the people who attended these programs — from realtors to lawyers to house-husbands — were looking for a new start in this growing field.”

The article stands a true sign of the times: not only does it point to the shifting attitudes towards marijuana, but it also points to the lingering economic recession that has haunted the American economy.

As Lancer noted, the medical marijuana industry has been an unexpected hero in rough economic times. He said, “The medical marijuana industry has turned out to be one of the bright spots in what has turned out to be a dull period in our economy’s history. Perhaps it’s just a preview of the economic boost that the complete legalization of marijuana could produce.”

Michigan unemployment offers a "no workers left behind" program, where they will send unemployed back to school to get training, I doubt this is in the course description though, med is too new here, and not totaly socially acceptable. I'm gonna check into it though! We have a couple grow schools in detroit.

yeah i cant see the governemnt funding me to go to any school that specializes in anythng cannabis LOL.
any1 ever try it?
i mean hey if your in a mj legal state then if they have such "no worker left behind" type program then why not :confused2: , no? lol

lol...I called Michigan Works (Unemployment agency) anonymously of course. MM cultivation is not one of the approved courses, lmao guess I'll become a nurses aid.

this is actually funny...who woulda ever believed we'd see this in our day? still feels like thier dangling the carrot in front of the horse...we need our reps to keep pushing for clearer guidelines now. (ummm yeahhh, did'nt the people vote at 63%?), so whats the problem here in michigan?...

ok off topic but does anyone else imagine that someday they will need pot smoking nursing homes for all of us stoners?? who will grow for us the nurses aids? tell the youngens what to do and point with our canes?
