In the chat room yesterday, I had a conversation over the term 420 w/ some others. I believed firmly that I knew the true meaning and shared it with the others in the chat room. I said it was a member of the "4" code used by military police to communicate back in the day of anolog radio communications..4-20 was "person under the influence"...4-29 was "person of unknown age or race in custody" etc.... In the mid to late 70's the code of communications turned to a new format called the "10 code"...10-4 is "ok" or "copy that" 10-20 is "location" etc..... Mid 80's and the Ham radio "Q" code was introduced..Over time the the term 420 became a term instead of a code....

Well it made for a great story anyway....lol BUT unfortunitaly according to the ever so popular www.snopes.com I was able to dig up a totaly different version of the same story, according to them, I could not have been farther from the truth... Here is the link to the page, You tell me what you think...

Calling all older hippies and military kids out there, Any one a teen ager in the late 60's/early 70's and sober enough to remember the police lingo...were there even radio's in the police cars than??...lol

:peace:

i think it would be nice to think "420" as something we can interperate for ourselves.

Its pretty much cult amongsed the smoking youth of today whether its a point at the clock: "hey man check it out! 420!" or a time people actually meet.

I always thought it was a time, but like, "theres a 420 on 42nd street" sounds pretty likely to me..
