what is the minimum amount of daylight hours a plant can usually have (unknown bagseed strain) and maintain vegetative growth?
 
18 hours of light minimum if your in veg.i aint as experienced as alot a people on here so i may be wrong but i doubt you go any lower than that bro

IMO/E it depends on a few factors. The age of the plant(is it sexually mature), the number of hours of light is has become accustomed to, plant phenotype and strain, to name a few.
If you take a sexually mature cutting, reared under 24/0 hours and reduce the hours to 14 or less, you will likely trigger flowering.
If you take that same cutting, reared/accustomed to a 16/8 schedule, and reduce the hours to 14 with an ever increasing amount of hours,(as spring does) likely not to flower.
14+ hours and ever increasing time, will usually NOT trigger flowering with most of the hybrid crosses of today, if they were accustomed to 16/8 or even 18/6.. in "most" cases...
