Gmornin all...
Currently I grow in a limited space that cant be used by newbes or clones until harvest is complete. The newbes will then take that place....anyone have advise about when to clone so they are ready for a short veg period as harvest is completing? Im starting with an aurora indica this time around. In the past my clones have matured way too much by the time harvest happens and it outgrows my space-.....Im using a 2'X3'X7' closet .....woe is me...

Thats a tough one. Every strain acts a lil different. Some root fast some root slow. I would take notes and log the timeline and work it out that way.

Thanks Mutt...my problem is that what appears to be the perfect clone prospects look that way when the plant has just started flowering nicely...then we're 2 months down the road before harvest and the clones are getting very robust...I'm thinking maybe starting from seeds each time around may be the best continuos grow option for my space.....more expensive.... I've looked for good clones prospects a month or so before harvest but they don't look nearly as healthy and don't respond as well either...

Even with limited grow space you can keep 1-2 bonsai mothers and have 10 clones under a 42w CFL. I've done it. A small computer case with a CFL or 2 is all you need to keep your self perpetually going.
I know what your doing, but taking clones after you commenced flowering doesn't work out well due to the need to reveg and root.

Or another option is after you get a clone going and it gets too big take a cutting and toss the donor. I've done clone of a clone of a clone and it works just fine. but the above is the best route.

I agree a mother is best and ya wanna take them clone from a vegging plant makes things a bit easier and quiker to take root...I do clone a clone and clone...but i also only grow in winter..hope this helps take care and be safe
