testing mag ballast

anyone know the ohm resistant to test if a 400 watt mh ballast is still good like if theres a certain ohm reading or some how other then putting hydro to it

thats the thing i dont want to hook up hydro if it not goin to work me and hydro dont get along soo well thats why im asking about ohm readings if anyone test them before without hooking up hydro

i meant electricity,hydro dont want to hook it up to hydro cause i dont get along with electricity want to know ohm readings to tell if its still good or not

just went to the truck and got my meter and a 400w halide ballast and.......

im reading 4.27 ohms between the 120v input and the common wires.
