Anyone ever tried to use a stove top exhaust for a grow room.. seems like it would be easy enough to mount at the top of the room..and some push like 160CFM fans and spots for carbon filters all built in...

RatherBBurnin,
I can't see why that wouldn't work great, might be a bit noisy though, and that's going to remove heat so fast that I picture a lot of auto off and on. Hey can you tie in a light dimmer switch, and control moter speed ? I hate electrical with a passion you wouldn't believe. I'm real interested in hiding the smell, so much so that I am calculating the lights on timing to start around 9:00pm when most folks are settled indoors for the evening, with their a/c on and windows buttoned up. Filtering it would truly be the most desirable though. What can you share about that my friend ?

I made carbon filter the other day... check the DIY section...

It was pretty easy..

I run my lights from 8 in the evening to 8 in the morning. Fewer visitors come between these hours, electricity is cheaper ande I also manage to avoid those high daytime temps. Also gives me more time to spend with them when I get home from work.

I run my lights from 4pm in the afternoon to 10am in the morning... then i plan on when i bud running 8pm to 8am as well... I have this inline fan.. but i at a bit of a loss for hooking up the one end of it... its a rectangle piece but at the depot..there wasnt anything that exactly matched up to it..

Stove fans are usually pretty quiet.. BEFORE the blades get coated in grease and grime and dust. Your grow room won't be as hard on the fan, I think you can expect it to stay rather quiet.

How big is your grow room anyways?

Can you take a picture of the inline fan? I would have a better idea of what you mean.

Pics are in my grow journal... first page of GJ.. last page of my journal

A good hardware shop should have a fitting that converts square to circular so you can use your flexible ventilation. Or just cut a rectangular piece of wood, and then a hole through that for your size ventilation.

Awesome GJ, btw.

Do your plants smell enough that you can notice a reduction in smell when the fan is on? I'm building one of those soon..

they are not that stinky yet... but i havent hooked it up in the room.. im waiting.. because i have a feeling i may build a box and flower in that box... in which case.. ill use this for the exhaust in there... i bought a 4" piece to connect at home depot.. but it didnt really fit on all that well... i suppose i could just duct tape the heck outta it..
