SYRACUSE - Two Goshen men and a juvenile are in Kosciusko County Jail following an early Friday morning bust of a large marijuana growing operation.

Mariano Gonzalez, 38, and Mario Camacho, 44, both of Goshen, along with a juvenile, were arrested early Friday morning after Indiana State Police busted a marijuana growing operation in the area of CRs 950N and 500E.

Camacho and Gonzalez were both arrested for dealing and cultivating marijuana. Gonzalez also was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, while Camacho was also charged with driving while suspended and on an out-of-county warrant.

Gonzalez was held on a $5,000 bond while Camacho was held on a $2,000 bond.

ISP troopers arrested all three subjects as they were tending to an estimated 5,000 marijuana plants.

Senior Trooper Chad Larsh, who serves as the Bremen District marijuana eradication coordinator, received information that several marijuana plants were being grown in the rural area near Dewart Lake.

"This plot is one of the largest cultivated outdoor plots that I have come across," said Larsh.

A single adult marijuana plant is valued at more than $1,000.

Trooper Dan Ringler said the plants were all less than 2 feet tall, making the harvest much more manageable. A mature plant is 7 to 8 feet tall.

Hmm.. Could it be?

Nah, there is no way it could be that easy to spot the damn thing! Check out the attachment below. I found this bright green plants perking up among the brown and dry growth in the area using Microsoft Live maps.

Interestingly enough, I estimate that field to be around 250 yards by 150 yards. Each plant on that screen is no bigger than 3 yards across if you measure them.

There is no way that many plants were growing there. Totally not enough space. Yet again, another example of how the law lies to get more money. Also that picture was from last year in the fall I suppose, so those are mature mothers. You can see where they have puled the males out as there are gaps in the patch.

Great operation, Horrible horrible place to do it.

what a bust. If only ppl new the wonders... yea i said WONDERS... of MJ

That sucks. With all the bust they are having out there I wonder how dry it has gotten for people who need that stuff to deal with their pains and what not.

What is it? 6,000 or 2,000?

Mario Camacho, 44, and Mariano Gonzalez, 38, both of Goshen, were arrested on charges of dealing and cultivating marijuana, assisting a criminal and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The third individual, a juvenile, is currently being held at the Juvenile Justice Center in South Bend.

A single marijuana plant can be worth over $1,000.

“This plot is one of the largest cultivated outdoor plots that I have come across," said the Bremen District Marijuana Eradication Coordinator, Senior Trooper Chad Larsh.
