pic #1: outside my cabinet. on top is ballast, and the 4" exzaust going into attic. on the right of the box, there is a 4" intake from my a/c unit, being pulled into the cab with a small computer fan.

pic#2: this cabinet has a 400 hps hortilux bulb, being housed into a air cooled reflector. the left side of the reflector is open. i think i am going to put a short 4" intake into that hood, from the outside of cab. (not sure). the red fan above and to the left of hood in a exzaust also. and on the top shelf is my 465 cfm exzaust fan.

pic #3: this is the small computer fan bringing a/c air in from the bottom right of the cabinet.

pic#4: is another intake from the bottom left of the cabinet.

pic#5: just under the hps in the picture above...lies 4 cfl's for seedlings. one has sprouted, and the others havnt hatched. temps are 79-82, humidity is 30ish.

i have grown well in soil, so i may place the rockwool in soil pots. i have tried hydro, but hav not had much luck. i think i will find a good female during this grow, and clone her for a hydro try. today is day one, so ask me questions...and give advice. :ignore:

yeah, i think i need an upgrade here soon. sometimes i dont trust the little devil. and you are right about me trying my best for conditions...the last time around was bad. new house makes for new means of making the atmospere happy. i also picked these two up the other day.....

i have one, but no room in there for that. i cut off my 465 cfm exzaust. maybe it will raise humidity some?

wouldnt cuttin off ya exhaust raise ya temps too hi tho?

Looks good so far, the only thing I would suggest is some how you should rearrange those exposed wires, tome that has fire hazard written all over it! Other than that I think your well on your way!

i unplugged big 465 cfm exzaust that is really only for when i have my hps on...and placed a large tray of water in front of a intake fan. it is making small ripples on the top of the water pan r/h was 30, lets see if it moves....!

the cab has exzaust besides the cfm. right now temps are 76, and the humidity didnt budge. its still 30. nevertheless, i will keep the water in front of the fan. i dont trust temp, and r/h meters that much.

couple hours later....77, with 32 r/h. i cant be so picky, or ill drive myself mad. i am thinking of letting my seedlings get 2 weeks old before introducing them to the 400 hps. temps are ganna go up :(

77 isnt a bad temp, the HID will raise temps a lot, and I dont see any aircooling on that hood, IMO that should priority #1... Forget the RH at the moment, weed will still grow in low RH... But if the temps are too high then things will get ugly...

oops N/M, I see it now air cooled hood... however you need a circulating fan blowing on top of the plants, or it will get heat build up

the "air cooling" on the hood is...i have a open hole on the left side of the hood...on the right i have a 4" duct connected to a 465 cfm fan, dispersing in the attic. eventually, before i turn on the hps.., i will take the open hole on the left, and run 4" duct through the box, bronging in more outside air. isnt that what "air cooled" is? when you disperse the hot air by using fresh air?

Yes it is, read my next post, I did an oops, when i saw your blower, there. that should be enough to cool the light..... You still need a fan that you can adjust to the tops of the plants... I buy those $10 fanns that you can clip on and I run a 2x2 up the side of my cabinet that I can adjust as the plant grows...

this will be my fan addition shortly. and i will be also upgrading from that big bulky hood that barely fits, to a cooltube, bake a round pyrex tube. the tube will have a intake and exzaust.

HI,

Wow... very good progress/improvements and when you get your cool tube you'll be in high cotton as we like to say down here. I don't think 30% humidity is an issue. When you water your plants just the moisture in the soil will transpire there's no way it's going to be too low. And if you go with hydro that should raise it more. During flowering I wouldn't want humidity any more than 50% and they say 40% is ideal for marijuana and it's not that different than where you're at and I wonder what the acceptable error is for a $5 hydgrometer from Sam's...? I have a pal who gave me a very accurate (according to him!) hygrometer when he had a large humidor built into his home. It only costs about $20 and is supposed to be very good quality according to my bud the Cuban cigar lover. Here's a link:

Happy Growing!

you mean cheaper hygrometer have an margin of being off a tad? hmmm i wonder...
