New country, better climate

I will be growing my 1st outdoor crop for over 10yrs.
Kiwiseeds outdoor mix,
80% Sativa 20% Indica.

This will be a backyard crop, planted within my veg garden.
I have prepared a 20' by 6’, deep, bed, within my patch.
A mix of tomatoes and pepper plants will surround this bed.
Spaced at 2' centres, acting as a screen.

I plan to plant my crop in a row, down the centre of this bed.
I have started to supercrop my seedlings.

What spacing would you consider to be acceptable for supercropped plants?

I was thinking a row of 5, spaced evenly would be good.

Could I squeeze a few more in?

Your thoughts and recommendations welcomed.

well the possibility of them getting huge is good, i might plant three times that stagared if not more if you want to get 5 nice females.

consider m/f ratio and cut the number of plants you have now at least in half. outdoors can be tough on young plants so it might be better to get them to a nice size and then harden them off slowly then plant in the beaming sun. i would start setting them out at least a week or so in some shaded sun, then partial shade then full sun, then plant.

the possibility of them getting big is good if you adment the bed with enough drianage and nutrition and dolomite lime (powdered).

how long and wide are the rows? do you have a drawing?

they could get 5-6 ft around in one grow season easily is why i ask.....

planting distance is directly relative to branch count.

If you want to grow just colas, then you can have them up real close, like maybe on per 0.5 foot. As you add on the yield and the branches(which provide the extra yield) your going to need to seperate them more. I only grow indoor because of the way it is where i come from, but indoor i would grow maybe a 4 ft tall indica once its done its upward growing and i would get maybe 20 tops off that, i would give plants of this style approx 1sq foot each, possibly slightly more.

Theres no way anyone here can give you a direct answer as to how close they should be apart because of the amount of variables.

First off you should get an idea of exactly what it is you want to achieve.

how big you wanna let them get and blah blah blah,

if you start off with what you want your final product to be and then you work it backwards and you should see your starting point.

I have a total of ten, which have been hardened off already.

They are sitting outside all day and night,in 4ltr pots, 1 gallon.

I move them 3 times a day, to catch the early sun, avoid the midday sun and into an open hanger at night.

The row is 20' long by 6' wide, with tomatoes already planted, so 3' either way.

The bed was double dug and manured last October and crushed oyster shells added. Lime dusted about 1 month ago.

This is an old well cared for veg garden.

The old man had been growing on it for the last 40yrs.

My previous experience is mostly indoor SOG, clones planted in 4ltr pots, 10 to 12 per tray, 3 to 4 trays on cycle.

I am hoping that supercropping will limit vertical growth but how much will it effect circumference?

I understand that plants tend to fill the space available to them.
So would close planting and supercropping be acceptable.

I guess I could plant a double staggered row.

I am not looking for direct answers, all thoughts are welcomed.

well if you grow them all season they will be huge....id plant all ten stagared take the best looking ones and plant them not all in a row but one real stong, then one weaker looking, then a stronger on then a weaker one. odds are the bigger ones will be males- so we can hope you get the females distanced from each other. you could wait till they show sex and then plant- but not only in a 1 gal container. means transplanting which i wouldnt do more than i have to.

the quicker you get them inground the better for them it will be.

I see your logic there.

I am waiting for my tomatoes, maize and sunflowers to put on some growth before moving this crop into the garden.

For sure they will be transplanted before they show any signs of being root bound.
