I have four plants, three of which are doing well, but the other isn't. Every day a few more leaves developed these dark spots that eventually spread across the whole leaf. The leaves fall and then rot. All the rest of the plants are fine.

I have been alternating Bio-Grow (8-2-6) from BioBizz and Diamond Nectar (leonardite), using both according to instructions (3ml/l for each). The soil is a mix of perlite, heat-treated potting soil and compost. The pots are ceramic and have a 19 cm diameter. The light is a 200W CFL.

It has started to get considerably cooler, and the landlord has yet to turn on the heat, but I have no idea if that is a factor. Also, I allowed the grow room to get pretty dirty and I had a little pest management problem. What kind? Don't know, but the flying ones where like little gnats; the crawling ones were white and so tiny that they were hardly recognizable as insects, and when you squashed them, they had an almost waxy quality. The flying ones are still around but loosing ground and the crawling ones seem to have disappeared.

Here's a picture to give you a better idea. Any ideas would be helpful.

BTW you guys have a great site here. Keep it up.

How old are the plants?

how tall are the plants?

look under the plant from bottom to top, do you see eggs?

I dont like the sound of the little whites, if you have spider mites, you have a serious problem.

Your feed is too weak.

Are you growing inside or out?

1 thing I can tell you, is you have white mould called (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), look at your leaf, it has light green fish shape scales that join themselves, this is stage 1 of this mould, only drying the air and exhasting the stale air will help you fight it.

Is this going from the bottom leaves up or is the whole plant that is having this problem?

Sounds likes one of your babies is getting diseased or has grown to have a pest problem. My recomendation is pull the plant, shakes the roots free of as much dirt as you possibly can, then re-plant into some new sterile dirt, and avoid giving nutes for atleast one week to see if things turnaround. I also recommend moving your grow area until the pest problem has been dealt with. Otherwise, you are going to be sticking back into a problematic situation. I honestly, would recomend doing this for all your plants just to be safe, they may not show signs now, but may later on. Better to go ahead and just do it now na dhave them all on the same path, than to clean one up, then have it get sick again because another plant re-infested it. And again, move that grow area or find some way to clear those pests out...

I would say use some netting, but if they are as small as you say they are, i highly doubt any greenhouse netting would work.....

Just my thoughts on it!

The plants are about 4 months old, 60 cm tall and growing indoor but they are right next to a full length widow facing out onto a well traveled road, that I leave open when the weather allows. There used to be some white egg-like things on the leaves, but I got that under control, simply by manually cleaning the leaves. And yes, the whole plant is having the problem, but less advanced on the upper leaves.

My options for moving the plant are limited, as I live in a flat and my wife indulges my plant hobby so long as it stays contained in one room and I don't leave the windows open too much. Under those conditions, what do you say? Mind you, while I would like to see a harvest, I was fully expecting everything to go pear-shaped, so extreme measures don't really bother me. (I am in the middle of building a grow box for the winter, and looking forward to starting out some new seedlings. I like the smoke, but I love cultivation. This is a learning experience, so any thing you folks can teach me is great.)

Ah, that makes me recall, I used to have various pepper plants (lots) in the same room as well as basil, oregano, and rosemary. I also have a tree in the living room which has a powdery like mold (white/pink) on the leaves that doesn't seem to give it any problems.

I got the nutes at my local grow shop. The owner seemed to think these would be enough for a first attempt with bag seeds, but given that I am new to this and he was speaking French, I might have missed something. What would you folks recommend? (Better if you also give it to me in ratios, as it seems like you have different products than we do. Dutch products are readily available here too.)

apart the box the best think to do for your next grow is to get rid of all other plants in the room,
