single penny sized brown spots

I bought a 1000W MH/HPS kit and i am using it in a 2x6x8 closet

how far should lights be away frowm trees

after 1 night 2 of the leaves have 1 brown spot the size of a penny on them

i looked around at some of the sickness threads but did not see nething similar

nehelp would be preciated

im also kinda paro of the effect of this light on my bill wich is included in my rent

i live in an apt building
