My garage door freakin broke....it wasn't going up. I inspected, nothing seemed to be holding it so i figured i'd just WD-40 all joints.

Didn't work, so i cranked up the power dial on the back of the motor.

that didn't work either

so i cranked that dial ALL THE WAY UP

Man, it really messed up the door, it like bound up and bent in the middle.

So now i'm stuck with a door that doesn't work and i can't call the landlord to replace whick is clearly his responsibility. New i shouldn't have put the plants in the garage!

this is going to be an expensive grow room if i have to pay for that door!

any suggestions? its binding up in the middle at the top, now its stuck down which is better than stuck up but??????***

top two horizontal roll up pieces are bent and rippled in middle and rivets popped out from the middle brace. I think i can drill and bolt those back though.

what causes this? I don't see any place where its binding or stuck, i want to repair this door!

Uhh, maybe it's a good thing your door can;t be opened now hehe. Wait till aftrer grow to fix it. Why bother with it now? You can hire out some decent labor for like 4-5 grams of some dank to come out an hour and fix it hehe.

Renting sux for a bunch of reasons.......main reason is each month you are paying off some one elses mortgage......anyone who has a good job should be buying their own place....if you can afford what you would realy like .....then I recomend ya do what I did.......buy some land that you like.......buy a new trailer..big singlewide or double wide....then save money and build your own over the years.......I got tired of paying someone elses mortgage and then every year when the lease was due the rent increased..........you had to go by all the owners rules.........we lived in our trailer for 10 years and then built a new home......and its all paid for.......if ya do what I did and buy a piece of land out in the country you can get alot of acrerage for a good price.......and then take time building...trust me its cheaper than renting and you will save money.......

Depends on how messed up it is really. Do you think it is repairable yourself ?

well.....its pretty obvious but i have it straitened out ok. i figured out what the problem is and its that there are two springs that are wound with tension to help pull the door up. one snapped apparently at some time???

I'm going to replace them and then drill the door where the rivets tore out and bolt them. If the landlord has a problem with me trying to save him hassle and money come time to move, and doesn't want to refund my deposit, he will have some problems with me. It is clearly wear and tear and the damage is not horrible but apparent and only at the top. I will save the old springs in case he questions.

check this out, new set of springs is 140 bucks, not to bad i guess. If i have the company come install them, its only 150 and has a 5yr warranty! i guess these things are REALLY DANGEROUS and they price it to deter you from trying to intall yourself.

Can't wait to try, i may actually end up with an injury to qualify me for "medicinal use" LOL

JK i could qualify now but don't want it reported to the MIB.

bubba....i hear ya,

i'm working on 10 acres now if this deal works out i'll be stoked. Land in a decent area of CA is impossible to get at an affordable price.

as far as renting better than owning, i have mixed feelings and it comes down to purpose.

I own a new modern house with ocean views on the coast of baja.

I also, have many assets as well as toys, like my '46 Stinson airplane.

but when it comes to homeownership, your biggest asset is also your biggest liability!

If you live there with no income derived from it, its also your biggest cashflow expense!

you got to do what makes sense for your current situation.

example: new house, 600k mortg. with adjustable or interest only, maybe an A.R.M. = stupidity......ie, some people swear this is better than renting as well.

i hope i soon have a similar land acquirement as you bubba, that must be your own little slice of heaven!

peace
