If I had heat problems in my grow room. Would a portable AC be alright to use? Have anyone used a portable AC in their grow room? Please let me know.

Well we have never used a portable AC but last summer we put one in the window of the room our grow is in. I don't see why it wouldn't work. ;)

only thing is AC units dry the air right?

too dry = plant death..

correct me if im wrong, i never used an AC unit other than in my car lol

Riz is right. If you run an portable A/C unit you should also get a humidifer and keep the humidity at the right level. Can you vent to a room that has A/C and **** cool air into your cabinet using fans?

If the a/c unit is put in an actual window in the actual grow room, you will light up the outside with with your growlights through the unit. Keep that in mind! Now lets say your grow room is about like mine, 5x11x8 and is part of a bedroom. If you put the a/c unit in the wall of the grow room and the back of the unit is exausting into the bedroom, the bedroom will get to OVER 100 deg. farenheight!! if your exausting out back into the bedroom, you create a cycle and will overpower the unit. Ideal location for the a/c unit is in a window in the room that houses the grow room. Cool this air and than allow an intake to pull the cool air into the grow room. Exaust the air from the grow room out into the attic or somewhere else if you can, other than back into the room. I have built boxes onto the back of the a/c unit to trap the hot air and exaust it through fle pipe before and it would work for a day or two but fail eventualy. Also keep in mind if it is cold outside the a/c unit will produce steam and be a bust..(why is that person using an a/c unit in March and whats that light coming through it??) NOT GOOD!!...lol

By the way...a GOOD humidifier will not only keep the humidity up, but will also bring your temp down!! for me, if my lights come on and there is no humidifier my room is about 88 to 90 deg. F. and the humidity is about 20%. With the humidifier running before the lights come on and running through the whole time the lights are on, my temp is about 81 to 82, some times 79. and the humidity is about 34%... 34% humidity and 80deg. is way better than 20% and 90deg.
