Watching something on telly and it got my brain going.
The egyptians, at least to the best of my limited knowledge, used to direct sunlight through mirrors to create indoor lighting,, am i just way too high or do i watch too many films lol,,, has anyone ( dont say greenhouse you sarcastic bunch lol ) ever thought of trying a system like this to provide intensified natural daylight to plants grown indoors and i'm talking your house or shed sort of thing not a great big warehouse with big skylights lol.
I'm just thinking mad professor time lol, large mirror directing light from window sill to maybee another directing it to required area.
I appreciate plenty of you know i dont know much bout this game but hey if nothing else i enthusiastic ( and a bit head mashed lol ).
Might sound a bit out there but anyone got anything constructive to add?
Remember i not talking putting plants out on balcony or something,, i in uk they'd die of frost bite in June lol,, i'm talking intensified light using mirrors to try and rival our big grow lights.
:bong: :bong: :bong: :joint: eh? what did i just type? :bong: :bong: :bong: ahh that's better

It is doable but the question is do you lose any bandwidth from the light being reflected.

I was wondering that same exact thing Newbud. I really think it would work.
Wouldnt mirrored sunlight be intensified? ("Objects may be closer than they appear" type of deal)
Only problem that I really see is that the sun wont sit still but for so long.
But if home, I say its worth saving the power and go ahead and spend the time rotating it, tryin it out.

Cool i was expecting to get laughed off the site for this one lol.
Thinking a little more on the subject and if nothing else surely it would at least make a good supplementary lighting?
The constant movement issue would be well an issue but i'm sure this is workable

They make some small sky lights like 8in dia. that have a bubble top. it has a tube with mirrors inside it thety use them on green homes eco freindly when the sun is up they put out a good light would one of those work?

These are called sun tubes and they do work. The're bendable, lined with a reflective material, and really deliver a good deal of light. I don't know if they've ever been used as a sole light source but I have seen them used as a supplemental light source in a plant store(tropical plants).
It might be worth further investigation. Now you have my brain cranking, I can smell the smoke!!!:D
