So, it's been about 4 days since I took new clones, and today..

I was greeted by this:

I was absolutely floored.

Unfortunately, the rest haven't any roots.

Have I been doing something right or is it a fluke?

Yes, yes, and no. :) You will always get variation in growing and cloning because there is much variation in the genetics off MJ, and because there are many variables in growing. I would say that you are doing the right thing so ffar and the early rooter is the proof. I suspect the others will soon follow. :)

Just a word or warning; don't get jaded by your early success and then get ffrustrated the next time when you are entering the 3rd week off cloning and still not seeing roots. This is the variation in plants that can occur. If you are continuing to clone the same plant then you shouldn't see that variation unless you change something, but if you try cloning a different strain of MJ, you could very well get the 4week rooting stretch.

I have experienced this myself and it can get frustrating. Larry OG takes a long time, while Pineapple chunk will just about root on concrete in high humidity. But the fact that you have roots means that you are doing it right :)

Good for you Track... Keep that strain's mother happy. I bashed my head on the wall for years with the speed of rooting with the opposite problem - it always took 3+ weeks to see roots when everyone else was talking in 7-10 days. Then I hit on a Widow variant which roots completely in 7 days almost like clock work. I think it has more to do with the strain than anything else. I've bred the same Widow with some Sour Diesel and am getting the same fast results almost 100%.

But 4 days is a keeper for sure... heh...

Pretty fun stuff when that happens.

My cloning is sucking right now....

Hey Old guy, nice to see you back!!! Welcome home.

Good job on that fast rooter. You're doing it right and like everyone else stated don't panic the slower ones, they'll root....

I've learned sterility protocols are a must , Rose.

Pre-sterilized horticultural or surgical scalpels and iso cleaning intermittently between cuts. No industrial, bulk/blister packaged razor blades. They're coated in oil that even iso can't get rid of.

That and a low-N containing media cut w/ perlite for improved soil aeration...
