New to MP

Hi(gh) Everyone!

I'm already registered on icmag.com, but looking for more info to start a small personal grow for me and a friend.

Found out the hard way my carpentry skills suck and tools are expensive, so I was looking for a reasonably priced turnkey unit like a grow tent, most likely a Homebox XS or S. I saw GMCORPs thread and it looks pretty good!

welcome to MP. I am old time grower new time writer. You will find that all questions asked will b answered by some very skilled people here. I grow in DWC deep water culture. I have done outdoors,indoors soil with mh/hps, dwc with mh/hps, and currently dwc with T-5HO Flores.whstever questions u have post away and happy growing!

Hey Ioabaldguy thats an easy name to remember, thats the way I wear it!! LOL! How were u planning to grow? I read about a tent? Do you have a complete room or a closet and the dimensions? Are u a soil grower??? Just being nosey I guess trying to help ya out thats all.

check out panda film, you can rig up a closet easily in any size you like and take it down later, best of all , it will save you money

i've had some awesome grows in my tents,but at present i am building a grow room from hell.the tents are a good,cheap way to get started quickly.i personally do not care for them.i will keep my biggest tent for a mother area.good luck

UKGirl420 - You may have me confused with someone else. This is my first time at Marijuana Passion, but I like to use the same user name with other forums(icmag, breedbay, etc.)

SoFlnightlight - I am planning to grow, its just a matter of $$$$. Looking at a Homebox S. Saw GMCORPs thread on her Homebox XS and was inspired. I tried to build some plywood box setups, convert a desk cabinet and wardrobe cabinets but I found out the hard way ($$$) that my carpetry skills suck. So instead of spending alot on materials and expensive tools, I'd thought I'd get ready made equipment that I can just through together and get growing. I am planning to start with soil, then move to organic hydro later. I figure it's easier to dump nutes down the drain than dump soil somewhere.

BrushyBill - That's another option I'm considering. My carpentry skills suck, but it's because I keep trying to make a cabinet from scratch and the corner joints never end up square or light proofing is an issue, and I really can't afford a table or miter saw. I could build a frame out of 2x2s and metal framing clips then wrap the whole thing in panda film. Still need to do some more homework on it.

Andy52 - Yeah Andy, I saw some of your responses here, primarily GMCORPs thread. Good luck on your hellacious grow room but like you said, I'm just getting started. Plus, this is just for my personal use and a friend with a medical need. Not looking to grow pounds - yet ;^) . I'll be happy just to get 1-4 oz. from my first harvest.

hey baldy, if you have built a frame and r haveing light leaks SSE 100% silicone in all corners(black) color. If u havent do u have a closet? I'm asking because I switched from mh/ hps about 3 years ago and am useing t-5 HO lights. 54 watts per bulb. They come in all different sizes and u dont have to deal with a heat issue! Do u have a hydro store near u thats a place where u can/ might beagle to get a used set of lights cheap. They can b used as vertical lights also and u can keep the 2 inches away from the girls. I grow in DWC bubble buckets they r very cheap to build. The lights will save u $$$$ on your electric bill and can b used from seed to harvest. I have come close in dry weight with t-5's compaired to hps. Some people dont like them I personlly love them. Just switch the bulbs out to flower!! No heat issue I use New Wave 8 bulb per light. 1 on top and 1 on both sides. Thats around 1250 watts that can b placed right on top of your plants. Check out the DIY FORUMS THERE R SOME threads on makeing bubble buckets for under $30!! Hydro you will find in your experience that the growth with those buckets is almost double soil!!!!Ill look on the web for sites for t-5's for ya. Like I said I dont have to deal with heat and I'm running 3 of the big ones. They will realy save u $$ using them for a mother, starting seeds, all the way through to harvest. Post any questions u have and u will get responses from a bunch of smart people here. I'm new here too and it seems this is the best site I've found yet. Consider I'm useing an I phone now!!LOL take care baldy!!

Don't have anything built yet. The light leak issue was from the time I tried to convert a utility cabinet into a grow. The hinges and doors didn't fit right so a lot of light came out around the doors. I will check out the DIY on those $30 bubble buckets though. THANKS!

hey baldy sent u a pm, don't know if I did it right or not. I am using an I phone when on here got my computer rigged to empty out my buckets and tubs so after my buddy dialed that in for me I just use this. Its pretty cool every hour for 5 min my growtubs/buckets drain into a big RES. The roots LOVE IT. if u didn't get my pm to ya let me know please!! Thanks man. Look forward to hearing from ya. GREAT FIND BALDY!! I got your message and I sent u one but don't know if I did it right. Check out HIDHUT thats a great site for a price check. Looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel for ya!! Couldn't get any closer for ya. Take a look in the DIY forums for carbon scrubber and other stuff to save u $$$. Also I wrote in the pm to u just incase u didn't get it that NL is a great potent strain that doesnt put off as much Oder. BTW its considered a low Oder strain. Grew it but have a scrubber. How's the light selection there? Check out the site I told u of your place might have sum of the same stuff!! Congrats baldy!!
