Having faired pretty well with hydro, Im giving some organic soil the test. I got Aurora Indica and Wonder Woman started in plastic cups, In less than one week from planting they have grow strong and quick. Im really excited to keep these under cfls (as stock plants) in my closet as long as possible. Once they are big enough, take cuttings. I want to get 18 clones in 6"x6", 1 gallon containers, veg them to 4 internodes and atleast 8 inchs tall, only then to flower 9 weeks. With 18 6"x6" pots they will occupy (squeeze into) a 3x3 foot area under the 400w. I am hoping to get a ounce off of each single cola planter, please give me your input.

Thanks for the response, I love hydros growth rate, and how dense it makes the plants, Im just tired off the maintenance associated with trying to keep plants at different stages of growth on a common reservoir. I think soil will eliminate that, since each container is seperate. Plus I just wanted to try soil, so that Im a more rounded and experienced grower.

its to slow for me at day 12

Welcome to soil bro....:)

Hydro growth is sick and quick....Soil takes a bit to get rolling...I enjoy both but soil is a lot more forgiving....

ugggh...
a while to get going? I thought you soil guys were getting rooted 1 foot tall plants in 4 weeks from a single node cutting, but of course these pictured are from seed, and will take a bit longer.
how long will it take to be mature enough for 4 cuttings a plant?

well, looking back to when I started this thread (a week ago), and looking at the pics, I guess growth rate isnt to bad. Try to be positive right!
With 40 days of veg to go, Im sure they will be ready to have cuttings taken from them. I plan on transplanting to the 2 gallon containers with fox farms organic mix, perlite, feeding will be problend veg formula with liquid karma.

Howdy! I also think you need more light. Have you considered T5's? They are pretty cool. I have had good results with them growing starts from seed.

well, things are moving along, but not as quick as hydro. If you look at the plant on the lower left, you can see where my cat chewed on the little leaves, it looks like the plant will recover. 38 more days of veg, so I hope growth rate picks it up a bit as plants age?

From a fellow hydogrower I say this is a good thing you are doing! Kudos to you sir! I too will be trying soil soon under the 1000 watt again. I started my indoor in soil but had too many problems with pests living in the soil so I switched to hydro. I now realize that it was me contaminating the plants by not building a proper "clean" space to grow in. Now I am wondering if I can get more yield by using the reservoir space to grow using thin low soil pots. Keep us updated as often as you can. I will be watching! :)

Lotsa Green MOJO 4 U sir!
