Hey all, as the post header says, come January im moving back to Alaska. (Orange County can kiss my mountain man hind-end)

Now my problem is, i dont wanna lose my Genetics, but im not sure the best way to transport my plants all the way there, i plan on driving to Washington and taking the ferry to Anchorage or somewhere in there.

Im nervous to carry clones with me for that length of time and into 3 different states and then through Canada area, anyone have any advice on how to get my ladies north?

Well, i can't speak for the other states ,but i've had my share of experience with the US/Can border guys. And i would'nt chance bringing anything across ,maybe a very small clone mixed in with someother plant you might be bringing to your aunt, maybe? But then again they were cracking down on foodstuff, plants and animals coming across from foreign lands , i guess because of diseases maybe, something like that. I think more for ppl trying to bring alligators or snakes that they dont want here(always end up in sewers)

Best chance would be to get some seeds made if you had the time. Probably your best bet to keep them.
P.S. i lived in Orange for 8 months a few yrs back and i'm with you. Get outta Cali.

jump on a ferry in Seattle to Alaska -- keep the clones hidden in the car in the parking garage and party for three days -- try not to act suspicious lol

Yup...

MAIL em...:hubba:

Use USPS priority mail with a false return addy and send them to a location where no growing is going on... Since you're going from California to Alaska they won't be going thru Customs and you won't have to deal with the endless space/time continuum that is Canada Poste... MAN is that a slow postal system...

Here are some pics...

One pic shows four clones I bought in Berkeley at a med dispensary and took them back to my hotel room in San Fran to pack. There's another pic that shows the same four cuts unpacked after sending them to the SE USA state I live in from Cali. This method locks down the cut inside of a paper towel tube to keep it from sliding/moving around, just use lots of newspaper/packing popcorn to keep the tubes from moving in the box. If the plug/cube is moist and wrapped in a damp paper towel and put inside a baggie it will keep moist for at least two weeks.

Be sure to take about a million In-n-Out Double Doubles with you though, they dont have those in Alaska...:p

Happy Moving~!

Wow, good job DOS. they look better then the plants i order form nursery's. Love the shot of them in the window. Nice

You can do like DOS said....it is easy and works well. Other idea is making some colloidal silver (or buy it online) and hit your ladies with it. They will then throw some boy parts and you can make some S1's. Those S1's will basically be your ladies in bean form. That's my plan next summer.

Thx Rosebud...

Yup the San Fran bay shot also keeps you on your toes...

I think that's Alcatraz:eek:in the bay shot...:p :holysheep:

Peace~!

I totally advise against bringing ANYTHING but beans anywhere near the Canadian border! I went to BC for the first time this last year and was stripped down to my chonies IN THE LOBBY of the border patrol building solely cause my tattooes were suspicious  Everyone in there got a free show. I didn't even get any dollar bill tips out of the deal

I'd say beans, or ship them like was described.

I have never really had any trouble crossing the US Canada border, but I am an old lady...

I would go with DOS's suggestion. Clones can do very well when mailed. However, if you lose them, there are probably a hundred or more strains out there that you could replace it with.

Thanks for all the replies guys, first off, i appreciate everyones suggestions about bringing beans, im not to worried about my meager bean collection i really am concerned about my clones however.

I have quite a few clone only strains i dont want to lose, and could never replace in AK.

I was worried about bringing clones on the ferry for a few reasons, i mean i know i could hide some in my trunk and most likely be safe, but a northern winter in a unheated trunk for 3 days, clones wouldnt stand a chance.

I definitely do not want to get stopped by customs as ston did, i am sure they would find my tattoos very suspicious as well.

Lewis i maybe interested in making some S1 beans, but i dont to have a higher hermie risk from forcing boy junk to pop.

Dirty South your suggestion seems to be a very good one, i just need to find somewhere i can send my clones, dont want to screw anyone over if they did get found.

btw, i will miss a few things about Southern California, In n Out is high on the list. :)

A PO Box can be rented for fairly cheap. If you don't want them delivering the grow op, sens the package to an alias at your purchased PO Box and claim you don't know anything about it. Also, taking S1 seeds might chance a plant for popping a hermie, but once you get the female to pop, you can just go back to cloning her, right?
