The binge drinking machine? Mouth spray that gets you drunk in seconds - but you sober up just as fast

A new gadget is designed to get people drunk INSTANTLY.
The makers claim, however, that the 'harm' is limited, because you sober up equally rapidly.
The alcohol is delivered via an aerosol spray, so people feel briefly drunk, then sober up.
But however quickly people might recover, drunkenness can lead to accidents - and it's also unclear how the device could be misused by alcoholics.

Two American scientists designed the device - a small spray that gives you that instant drunk sensation from less than a drop of alcohol.
The feeling lasts just seconds - but when it fades, you are sober and able to carry on with your day.
The 'Wahh Quantum Sensations' delivers just a miniscule dose of alcohol - 0.075ml - directly in to your mouth, but thanks to the aerosol effect, the effect is instantaneous.
With a typical drink containing 40 to 60ml of alcohol, the scientists say it would take a thousand sprays to get the equivalent amount of alcohol into your system.
French designer Philippe Starck and Franco-American scientist David Edwards say the advantages is to enjoy the drunk sensation with none of the harmful effects of alcohol on the body.
Unveiling the spray in Paris yesterday, Starck said: 'The question is how to do good without doing harm. Wahh is an alternative that offers the idea of intoxication without its adverse effects.'
The product is about to go on sale in Europe for 20 Euros, with each capsule offering 21 'shots'. UK distribution plans have not been unveiled yet.
Before Wahh, Edwards, a professor at Harvard University, developed thje 'Whif'. Launched in 2008, it was another small aerosol the size of cigar, which offered the flavours of chocolate, coffee and tea.
The product which sold for between £1.50 and £3, was a moderate success, selling 400,000 copies worldwide.

My god, why would anyone anywhere spend valuable research time/money on something this asinine? That is about the most stupid product I have ever heard of. If research money was spent on things that mattered like curing aids and cancer instead of trying to make hair and other other things grow, I think we would have cures already. IMO, those "scientists" should just be slapped.

:yeahthat:

Personally, cannot think of any reason I'd want to feel drunk, and if I did, I'd simply drink!

they say this spray cost $27. dollars and the drunk effect goes away fast...I can buy 1/2 gallon BAileys and be drunk all weekend:D

Sound more like a "fool and his money are soon parted" gimick.

I used to drink like a whale in the mid-90s and managed to make myself so sick of alcohol that nowadays I can't stand liquor except in a cocktail with lots of soda and I can't stand the feeling of drunk. The only thing I currently drink is beer, and only occasionally.

Me too YYZ, except I would say more like rarely anymore, for me!

Saw this earlier on yahoo. I wouldnt waste my money on it, but like the others say, I dont drink.

If you hold your breath you can get really high. Only problem is it lasts for like a minute. The "smart ones" would figure out how to make it last longer. :fly:

Why does this remind me of the idiots that used to huff paint behind the school? P.T. Barnum was right "There's a sucker born every minute."

I see it now, movie crews using this for their "drunk" scenes....missed the boat on this one!
