so i have four decent sized plants growing in a closet in my house, and my fluorecent lights just decided to crap out on me...would it be better for me just to pull them out of the closet and set them up in my living room like house plants, or to put them outside for a few days until i can get a new light?? and when i get new lights, what would be best for a small closet operation??

how small is small and how old are your plants??? CFLS work great in small spaces...

put them next to a lamp until you can get to the store.or if you want, keep them outside during the day,and bring them in and put them next to a lamp at night.you need to get another flour or some sockets/cfl bulbs a.s.a.p. though.

if its gonna be more than a day i would say put them in a shaded area outdoors.during the day and if nothing else a couple of cheap cfls at night. i wouldn't put them in direct sun light the first day or so. and like everyone else said get some lights asap. hope this helps good luck

Moved this over to the Indoor section for you ;)

Put 'em outside!!!

If you can leave them out there you can finish them out there.

Trust me, the sun cycle will start her cycle...

...also, if they are past week ...4 or so if they get more than 12 hours dark they may start to flower...

if they do you might as well just finish them off. Since it's that time of year they will auto-flower with the current natural day/night cycle.

...the days are just going to get shorter and shorter.

If you are talking about a day or so, i would actually just leave it in the dark, because putting it outside of only a few days is going to change the lighting schedule a few times, which could very well promote hermies. I would just keep it in the dark and when you get you new light put your plant back on the same schedule it was on before your light gave out.

If it will be longer then a day or so, then yes you may want to look at putting her outside, but for me that is a last resort, I never like to brings plants from outside back indise as they could also bring spider mites and thrips and aphids with them

IME this is right on. We sex our babies every year before we plant them outdoors, and if we put them right into the sun, only 30% or so make it, the rest burn up. But if you put them in the shade, they'll be fine, just when you take em back indoors, make sure to line up the light cycles as best you can with the sun they were just in.
