layer soil or mix soil

im mixing a top soil with fox farm's ocean forest (a soil with fertilizer in it already), and im wondering what is best in this particular scenario, to layer the soil (and in which way), or to mix it all together?

:ciao: I used pro-mix and mixed it with the outside soil ... I would think mixing would be better ... eace:

Mix it "well", add a couple tablespoons or so of horticultural hydrated lime...

If your using pre nuted medium, fill a 5gal pot and flush it several times before mixing it with the soil, it will wash a lot of the pre nute out and save you problems in the future :aok:
