my parents gave me my sister’s camera not long after she died. For an illiterate person such as myself, it is a fancy camera. She was always taking pictures, and she took some of the best pictures of my oldest son. She should have been a professional. Had an eye for a good photograph. She dressed him up in a hobbit cloak, and we took pictures for an hr down at the creek while he just played and did whatever he normally would do.
She got some absolute gems from that.
She was sick as a dog from the cancer, she only used the camera for a few months before she was too weak to care about much more than living.
So I get the camera. And the first thing is it’s way more camera than this old boy can handle. And each time I use it, I think of my sister and it just kills any desire to try and take pictures.
It’s been a year and I am finally able to start using it. Only alone, I can’t bring it to family gatherings yet. It just wouldn’t feel right.
So, this morning I was taking pictures of the sunrise and I thought I’d look for a lens for more magnification. Wow boy!! You can spend 8 grand on a lense real quick. I think I’ll make do with what I have and learn to use the equipment to its advantage.
Good lenses for normal people can be found used for a pretty decent price.
