Up here, they're the biggest crybabies on the job. Dangerous to work around, too. Got hit a couple of times that should have killed me.

I have a rainbow tree. Herself and I find it kinda satisfying to peel the oddly-shaped papery bark pieces that are continually coming loose. They ARE messy. Leaves, small limbs that drop off the main body, and papery barks strips litter the ground around them.
Our tree is not yet mature, so it is not anywhere near as colorful as it will get. Right now it is about 40-50 feet tall -- it'll get double that easily.
This is what they look like; the colors are natural and not fake. Note how you could "peel" a long red strip of papery bark off of this one. It'd be a different color under it:
A coupla more growing in a forest:
