I'm a super newbie

Hey guys, i've been here a few days and its super positive, ppl aren't dissin eachother and people actually help eachother. I like it a lot, and I'll say first that this is my very first time growing, and only with minimal equipment, i'm using flourescent lights, but i kno for flowering i have to use either hps or metal halide. Its pretty expensive, and i'm willing to spend money on this equipment if it really makes the difference.
But is it worth to grow instead of just buying weed from a dealer, or in other words does it prove to be a good long term investment for your money? thanks guys, i've been learning a TON from everybody here!!

:welcome: ...You have come to the right place for help...I only use Flours for clones and seedlings...I use MH in Veg and HPS for flower..there are some here that use CFL all the way...I grow my own for a few reasons and one of them is cost. I was tired of wanting it and not finding it and when I did find it..it wasn't all that good..My electric bill and other $ spent on my Grow Room is well worth it..I also got in trouble more tryN to find some smoke then anything else..I grow for myself and no one knows at all...And that is my rule #1..I have Grown enough weed to last me threw the summer so i will be shutN down end of June...but will start to Germ in Sept..Its worth the SMOKE :48:

Welcome to the forum.
I've grown under flos and HIDS. Depending on how big you want to go.
Flos will still give you some nice smoke.
My homegrown is better than any street herb I have ever gotten. So yeah its worth it

hows its goin im a newbeee i am stoked about havin ppl help me a little bit my plants is 6 weeks old and only about a foot tall but its really healthy no bugs and temps are between 73- 81 its supose to be a granddaddy purps the stems are puple all over the place does anyone think i should put it in its floweing stage at how tall it is?

From my bucket of knowledge, I would say now would be a good time. I am about to start flowering for the first time, but first i'm getting more lights and a few other things.

how many plants are you growing? if its just one you can get 42 watt cfls for 8 bucks. three or four of those will flower one plant just fine imo. just keep them close. its cheap and easy. hope this helps oh ya welcome.

im growing 2 plants, i'm gonna get a bigger florescent system for now cuz HID lights are too expensive for a a newbie like me so i'll wait till i've proven to myself that i can grow more plants successfully

2 plants i would use 3 42watt cfls per plant and keep them about 3 inches away. or you can get smaller ones alot cheaper and just use more and you can put them 1 in. away. i use shop lights to veg, 5 four foot florescents. 3 soft white. 2 warm white. then use cfls for flowering.
