I am looking into adding a soilless mix of coco peat and soil amendments slow release ferts and the such and mixing that at 15% with my hydroton (leca) and using that in my ebb and flow. I have tried a higher ratio of cocopeat to hydroton with relative success and i am confident to do this however i am wondering how much of these additives will leach and how many will stay in the medium. I have a fabric that envelops my medium and acts as a big strainer but some additives like gypsum and wollastonite are quite wettable and i wonder how effective this will be in keeping them in the medium. Beneficial bacteria are thriving in leca and it holds on to ferts superbly. Any thoughts on this questions and some suggestions for additives in that mix would be nice. Thank you and happy growing everyone!

Good question. I have never used an ebb and flow system so I'll have to let someone else chime in.

I don’t think I have any valuable input on this subject, or I would reply.
