I seem to have a problem that has developed into week 2 of veg they are growing nice root structure and all but some leaves seem to be turning as shown in photos

Aeroflo (40 Gallon)
Rockwool with hydroton rocks
GH Nutes Floranova Grow, Floracious Plus, flora blend
ppm 700
ph 5.3 - 5.7 range i keep

Temps 75-80
Humidity 40%
(can not seem to get a way for humidity to climb when lights our on cool mist did not even work when lights go off humidity goes to about 50

I appreciate any help on solving this

Hello Olives1, when I was using GH flora/ebb&flo I had a mag/calcium def. wk 2-3 everytime til I added a little extra cal/mag. Your problem seems very similar but get plenty of opinions before doing anything drastic.

I grow AeroFlo2 as well, this looks like nute burn not mag. def.. 700 is too high at this point. I would flush the system, let it run for a day with just water, than change the water again because the ppm"s will go up when you flush. Than bring the nutes back to around 300 ppm's. In 2 weeks bring your nutes back up to 500 or 600. Remember the AeroFlo is very touchy system. Nutes & so on need to right. What is the height of your light off the plants? What is the temp at the canopy?

Olives, your PH is too low imo. Don't go below 5.6
A good range is 5.6-6.1 for hydro imo, with 5.8 being optimum.

What I do is set the initial PH to 5.6, then let er drift. It ends up in the 6.1-6.3 range by the next water change.

Setting it to 5.3 is too low imo, as it will inhibit the uptake of N, which it looks like your plants are needing.

I agree with norcalhal, your pH is to low for the veg period, also is that 700 ppm at a .7 or a .5 conversion? If your meter does a .7 conversion than

700ppm/.7 = 1000/1000 = 1.0 EC

or a .5 conversion

700ppm/.5 = 1400/1000 = 1.4 EC

(EC)——(PPM.5)———(PPM.7)——-(CF)
.4———200————-280———–4—–seedling/ rooted clones
.6———300————-420———–6—–
.8———400————-560———–8—–veg
1.0——–500————-700———-10
1.2——–600————-840———-12
1.4——–700————-980———-14
1.6——–800————-1120———16—–aggressive
1.8——–900————-1260———18
2.0——–1000————1400———20—–super aggressive
2.2——–1100————1540———22
2.4——–1200————1680———24

Thats a quick little reference chart for you. I found it in another forum but its in different forms all over the place, this one was just easy to copy paste. Anywho as you can see for 2 weeks into veg you want to be around the .8 - 1.0 mark although I personally think thats to high and run at the .6-.8 ec mark. Now if you meter does a .7 conversion to convert EC into ppm (all meters are ec meters that then convert that measurement into ppm which is stupid imho but thats a whole other can of worms.) then you are fine. If it does a .5 conversion than you are sitting at 1.4 EC which is pretty high.

I agree with DLM3. Flush and return to 300 ppm. I always start real low until the growth really starts to push then gradually raise it. My max during flower is only 700-800 with bloomaqua. I once went to 950 and my plants started to get the ram's horns. Right now I have one plant with some horns which is a different variety than the others. I ususally grow multiple varieties each grow which is a no no according to some but I try to find a sweet spot as far as ppm goes and I always succeed. Less is always better with nutes. I have experimented by pulling out 4 gallons from the reservoir and replacing it with a 250 ppm batch of fresh nutes and I still get 10-12 oz from a 400 watt hps. I also use a small (10 gallon) reservoir that needs more water every two days or I suck air so my plants are always assured of a fresh meal. Some swear by the large reservoir but I go with the thinking that fresh food is better. It seems to work well for me.

Also,,I know with my DWC I have to keep my Rez temps below 70f. Is it the same with AeroFlo2? Just curiuos.

Low pH, let her drift up some and Calcium and Magnesium will become available for uptake. It doesn't look like burn because it is startin inside and working it's way out. I run aeroponics and have Cal/Mg problems all the time. Especially when dialing in a new strain. They all like different things at different times. My main probelm is at the begining of the week my pH always rises. Once the plants have fed and the ppm has dropped considerably my pH starts to drop. There is just no way to catch it when it does, so I do not see it until I go to fill the res up the next day.

Cowboy, The temp in my aeroflo runs about 73 to 75, thats a little high I know but the plants seem to be just fine. It's hard to get the temp much lower because of the light over the tubes. It heats the water. I noticed the res. temp's stay the same as the room temp.

If ya put a fan right up against the rez(let it blow only on the rez) it will lower the temp a couple of degrees. It works for me anyway. Also I keep a couple gallons of my Distilled water in the fridge and thats what I top off with and I do the samething when changing the solution. My rez temps now stay at around 68-69f. The Box temp is kept at 72f.;)

I use that little trick as well & have been for years. It causes a lake effect over the top of the water, drawing the heat out, works great. The problem is I'm 4 weeks into bud. The fan over the res trick raises the humidity in the room. I need to keep the humidity down to help prevent mold on the buds at this point.

olives, do you have an ozone generator or an ionizer in the room? If so, get it out. This almost looks like ozone disorder.
