Anyone using this? and their thoughts on it? I'm especially interested in their Myco Madness, and Myco Maximum.

Myco Madness: biological active soluble powder contains beneficial bacteria, Mycorrhizal fungi, Trichoderma, and a special formulated natural root stimulant. These micro-organisms colonize roots and extended root zones into sorounding media increasing the surface area of the root system.

Myco Maximum: is a diverse biological package of beneficial bacteria, Mycocorrhizal fungi & stimulants. It's a granular powder featuring 20 different amino acids and 11 time release carbohydrates which feed micro-organisms over time.

oppinions? know of something similar that you have used and like? these were both around 25-30 bucks at the hydro shop, I haven't checked online prices yet. I'm not sure I want them, until I hear from you all. they also have about 3 or 4 other similar products...lol...I can't see that you would need them all, alot of them contain very similar contents. Just wanting some feedback

I wouldn't buy that with someone elses money.. unless a hot young sales clerk flirted with me until my mind was lulled into a dull stupor.

(writing from experience)

:)

lol...well I don't think I will be using these guys unless I hit the lotto.

I just went through their feeding schedule, and priced everything I would need based on their schedule to feed what I'm feeding now, and it would cost me $250.00 to get their full line organic with all the additives that they have on the feeding schedule. I based this on the 32 oz bottles, so I guess I could get maybe 2 grows out of this, but still....it's a little pricey for my blood.

I think I'll just use the free stuff I got from General Organics, I was just thinking of adding these inoculants and myco's ...I dunno...lol...this whole organic thing has got me spun out, and I know I'm makeing it more difficult on myself ...I mean in reality I should just be able to make a good soil mix, and feed with some different teas and what not, so why are all these companies coming out with 15 different addatives ...lol...I know the answer $$$$

I need to quit thinking so much about it and burn one....lol

this is what a trip to the hydro store will do to me...makes me think too much!

GH makes subcultures m & b. each one is $40. ive been using & when i transplanted only after 2 weeks of growth, roots were all furry so the myco is def in full force as im sure the bacillus is also. theyll go great w/ the GO lineup. i just sprinkled it into my promix. when i get near to flip ill start watering it in for a couple weeks then flip. just remember w/ organic ferts ph the water first then add nutes. if you check ph after it will be shockingly low. this is a ok. thats what the micro herd is there for. i believe OHC was having a issue w/ this & if i remember she was trying to buffer after mix which was throwing everything outta whack. it goes against everything you learned but thats the way it is. GL

yeah if you just want to add those benificial micros fungi's and all that you can just make teas from worm castings will do it.
hXXp://www.sonomavalleyworms.com/Sonoma_Valley_Worms/Castings.html
its alot cheaper. just ad sugars (high brix) or eaven the organic black malasses at the store to feed the micro's. and you get a thing of organism roots to add to the tea for the fungi's. i think you'll see improvements with just this that could be worth it. but by the time you get it all with a aerator to make the tea its gonna be around $90. theres also the bountea setup for 104. has everthing you need plus nuts.
hXXp://www.bountea.com/
its not neccesary to buy the nuts with the benificails except you don't have add everything else.
i see a huge diffrence in my growth. the fungi's dialate the roots so they can obsorb the nuts or something.
this is part of the bountea site that explains the benifit of the bactireas and fungi's

Doc yeah I was looking at GH's subcutures yesterday to. I will be using either those or the Humboldts, they are both similar in price. From my undertanding of the organics I don't even need to adjust the pH, that the micro life will do this for you. Just check my run-off every time, and make sure it's within my range. I will probably have Earth Juice's organic adjusters on hand just in case though.

Moaky thanks for the links, those are going to be a big help, once I'm ready to make the full jump to organic. I still have alot of Fox Farm bottles laying around here that I have to use up. But I am thinking of using clones fro the same plant in a side by side test with my old schedule, and whatever organic schedule I come up with.

LF, you need to stay out of those hydro shops.:hubba:

Ok my friend, I'm going to clue you in on how to play with the inoculants for cheap because they really do work, but you don't need to pay the big $$$ for them.

First off, check out a place called Fungi Perfect at xxx.fungi.com. They have been around since the mid '80's, before the internet and long before any of the nute companys with the pretty labels and big price tags.;)

What I use is a product called MycoGrow Soluble. It contains (I'm not going to type it all out):
Endomycorrhizal fungi- 9 different ones
Ectomycorrhizal fungi- 11 different
Trichoderma- 2 different
Beneficial Bacteria- 19 different

The best part, it cost $5.95 for 1 oz.:holysheep: Shipping is like $1.50. So, for~$8, plus another $2 for a bottle of molasses you are set.

This will make 12 gallons of solution, enough to inoculate 125-250 plants.

I usually just mix up 1 gallon along with a little molasses and dunk my clone rootball (small rockwool cube), when I transplant to 1 gallon containers. Further treatment is not necessary even when transplanting to larger containers. Just feed with molasses every week or so.

For the other:

DIY worm bid, $23 for 1 lb of worms, shipped. I already had the 2 totes from moving, but even if you had to buy them they are like $7 each at HD or Lowes.

Newspaper or cardboard for the bedding and kitchen scraps for the food=plenty of free worm castings.

The stuff to aerate the worm casting tea actually cost me more than the worm bin since I had nothing. Chlorine killer, air pump, hose, check valves, air stones and all came to ~$33. I do have plenty of Homer buckets.:D

Hope this helps some.

Droopy! YOUR THE MAN! somehow I knew you would chime in ....but who'd a thunk you'd be giving me the goods! Thanks man, and if you were close enough I'd smoke a fatty with you! Thanks man!

Cool!

The inoculant's are a good thing, but the rip off prices are just ....:hitchair:

The GH M&B is a good example, but they all seem to do it. One bottle is just mycorrhizal fungi and the other bottle is just beneficial bacteria and each $40 in the catalog I have. So, they take a complete product, separate it into 2 components so you have to buy both to make a complete product again.

Hmmmm $80 vs $8, guess I'll have to think about that.:hubba:

Of course, the MycoGrow is just pure spore mass so you do have to supply the water and molasses to wake it up.:D :D

I went through all this over 30 years ago. Not with MJ, but with orchids. Just as many gimmics for the novice orchid grower as there is for the novice MJ grower.;) I bought a good many of them.

A kindly breeder/commercial grower finally set me straight. Still killed a bunch of orchids and ferns, was just able to do it cheaper.:hubba: :hubba:

I need to burn one after work and look at this more closely. So bottom line, your making a nute blend for very little that will compete with any of the nute lines out there?

No, not a nute blend, but mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria for cheap that will compete with any that is offered by any nute line.

As long as Fungi Perfect has been around (~25 years), I wouldn't be surprised if these newer 'nute lines' aren't buying the spores they are using from them.:hubba:
