My particulars:
Organic Soil Grow
Haze and J. Herrer
400 HPS
Six(6) CFL's (2 Bright white, 2 daylight, 2 cool white)
Large space but a partitioned 4 x 4 x 5' height grow room

I'm 1 month into the grow and my plants are a bit small (in my opinion). They are approx. 6" (haze) and 4" (JH). They are bushy though.
I had them on the HPS, but the HPS was about 30" above (I was worried I'd cook the babies).
Today, I lowered the HPS down to 18" and added 2 sets of 3 CFL's into the mix.
Anyone see any reason why this is a bad idea?

you can never have to much light.

Sounds like you are good to go..
Now dont get happy and start over watering and nuting.
Give it time.. they;ll shoot up eventually

goodluck

1 more reason to put CFLs in there is that the HPS light is orange/red and harsh. I find when you look at your plants under fluoros you can spot deficiencies much easier. I couldn't even see the orange spots on my leaves from a K def under the HPS. I put them under a fluoro when I was cleaning in my room and Voila! Orange spots were developing while I had only seen a the leaf yellowing under the HPS. Peace!

Thanks Mr. Puff. I thought the same. I'm all for patience, but I want them to be healthy and grow to their potential. It's my first grow, and I've already learned a lot just from watching them react. (Slight nute burn from giving too eatrly, overwatering in the beginning, lighting distance, etc.). Out of 10 seeds, I've got 4 plants and 1 runt.
