ive seen some designs with reflective mylar on the floors too... a friend said reflective surface on the flooring might burn the underside of the plants .... TRUE OR FALSE???? OR on between?

false...get as much in there as possible!!

you'll burn your plants by having them too close to the lights

OR

over fertilization

OR

high room temps

OR

direct flame

OR

a laser

OR...well you get the idea!! Oh...ask your questions here. forget the "friend" you'll learn the "right" way here...look at the grow journals!!

I have a hard time believing it would be beneficial at all, for three reasons:

1.) You would be reflecting light to the undersides of the leaves, not the top where they actually need it.
2.) The canopy would block out pretty much all useable light
3.) If mylar is already covering the walls, then all the light is being "contained" in the room anyways

BUDDIES ARE A PAIN IN THE ***! well , then its OK i ordered 2 150' rolls, i planned on doing ceiling walls & floors, was considering wraping buckets.the room im building in is almost empty. I will take before and after photos. clones will be ready in just over a week, right after room is done. cya soon
thanks:holysheep:

i figured any light that would be used would be better than none, but thanks you for that view Q= what about the light ive seen corners and sides?

I wouldn't bother with the ceiling.. mostly because I know that stuff is a pain in the butt to work with.

Don't bother doing the floors. It will reflect the light upwards onto the underside of the leaves, which signals the plant to rapidly stretch upwards. The reasoning for this, I've read second hand, is that the plant believes it is competing with other plants (as if light being reflected off of other plants).

Cover the walls, only above the height of the pots, or hydro system. Anything below this is a waste.

GL :)

Also, tape it as flat as possible. I've heard wrinkles/creases can cause burning (hot spots), which makes sense since that would result in focused light rather than reflected light.

Thanks alot. this sight is too cool. appreciate ALL the input.

I always line my room completely with relective material mylar to be exact and i never had a problem and i was using a 400 watt hps system in a pretty small space for such a strong light and i didnt burn the leafs the grow room was 6ft by 2ft by 3ft hope this helps
