How many amps do I need?

First phase of the new room is the electrical. The breaker box is directly above the room and it s a 200 amp box with plenty of open slots. So what would be a recommendation on the amps I need to run 3 1000w lights, 3 light movers, fans to cool all this, 3 water pumps (approx 300 gph), several air pumps for air stones..did I miss anything? Would 2 30 amp do? Would 3 20 amp be better? One 50 amp? We are hiring an electrician to install the new breakers and run the lines into the basement.

No idea but with that kind of wattage and light I'd invest in some stuff to conceal the heat from radar. You might attract leos attention.

This is in a basement in a somewhat remote area. We will start with 1 1000w light, but I want the electrical to be able to handle 3, if we find out that we can run 3 and still keep the area cool enough.
It is way better to have a little more amperage than you think you will need, since running more after the walls are up is a pain in the butt.

1 1KWH light may draw from 4.5 - 9 amps depending whether it's hooked up as 120v or 240V. check the ballast for info. 240v is usually considered more efficient:>)

I'd probably run two 20 amp circuits out to some receptacles. 2 lights on one, 1 light and whatever else you need on the other. If you got way too much stuff, maybe run one 20 amp and one 30 amp.

good luck.

hi
I think you should run 2- 30 amp circuits .if you add all the watts you need then divide by voltage you will know amps for example :1000w devide by 110 v= 890ma.or roughly 9 amp so 3 1000w will need about 27 amp also your standard home outlets are reaed to 15 amp so you may want to ask for outlets for industial use (240v) . this as simple as i can tell you hope not to confuse you
