I've used this forum for information for a while now, but have just recently been given the opportunity to grow. I was given all of these things for free from friends, and am still contemplating what to do with them.

What I'm asking (and I know it is a lot), what would YOU do if you were given this stuff?

My first thought was to veg in an armoire that is 3x2x7. And build a box/room for flowering. Then I noticed my 1000w HID fits in the armoire nicely, as well as four 3-5 gal. pots. So the thought of a scrog or some sort of LST fun had me a little intrigued, I'll be honest... However, I'm looking to get the maximum yield from this one HPS, and have the supplies and skills to build any sort of room for these plants, so please, any advice would be wonderful.

I was also given Fox Farm soils, but I think I'm leaning towards trying the Coco coir buckets and mix I saw on Massproducer's thread. Will my local hydroponics store have many of the items needed to mix this "soil" (dono what to call it)?

Thanks to all in advance, I will be making a Grow Journal once I have the setup ready.

Apologies for the low-light pictures. I didn't notice!

:welcome: and good luck, Your in the right place for good info.

Welcome to MP bro....you might want to post this up in the Indoor section...you will get a lot more foot traffic and hence more help. And you shld list what you have in the post. Most of us are blazed and trying to look at your pics and figure out what you have is tough as hell.....at least for this baked hamster.

I guess it would have made sense to post there huh...lame. I'll move it tomorrow if no one responds.

1st pic: Fox Farm Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Ph up and down, Ph test indicator, as well as two Ph testers (digital and regular)

2nd: 1000w HPS bulb, 1000w MH bulb, I think it's the timer, and the thermometer.

3rd: 1000w Ballast

4th: 125w CFL

The 125 is a fluorowing and will veg your young ladies nicely, but the ladies will likely grow bigger than the light can produce, you might be ok with a couple plants, but....

This is a pretty small area for for the heat produced by a 1000 watter. Would need a real good ventilation system and/or ac in order to control the heat. I would either get a smaller ballast and light or a slightly bigger flowering room.

Just my $0.02 :bong::ciao:

Even if you can keep the space cool (which will be quite tough), this is overkill. Plants can only utilize so much light. I also recommend a smaller light or a larger space.

Thank you all. The thought of flowering in the armoire is gone. I will now be building a box to flower in.

Like I said, I received all of this for free, so the only new purchases I'll be making are whatever necessities I do not have.

I'll be running an a/c vent in the box/room I build, and also two fans to keep air moving. If I keep the ballast out of the room, do you think this will cover heat problems? My next question would be about height. I noticed the area I want to flower in is only about 5 ft high or so. Another problem? Or can I get away with 4-6 plants under this HPS? Suggestions? I'm open to any grow method, so long as my equipment is suitable.

Do you think I should veg with that flouro or the MH I have? =)

I know that CFL will do the trick for veg. What is the kelvin on that?

Your box will need an exhaust fan--your plants need a continual supply of fresh air all the time the lights are on--out with the old and in with the new. You can't just pump a/c air in without somewhere for it go. You want negative pressure in your space. I also believe that you will have a tough time keeping things cool without a decent centrifuge exhaust fan. Look at Vortex, Can, Eclipse, etc fans.

Yes, 5' is going to be a major problem. Since you are building a box, why are you limited to 5'? Check into LST (low stress training) and scrog (screen of green).

Yes you can veg with the fluoro (how many lumens is it) or an MH. The amoir would work for that and you could do a perpetual harvest grow.

I have done the 5 feet of height dance and it is not fun...that's why my flower tent is now 6.5 feet high....remember that the light itself will eat up valuable space when it comes to height.

here is a 435 cfm valueline fan for 79.95
hxxp://www.plantlightinghydroponics....an-pp2260html
also if you get a cooltube or air cooled hood it MIGHT help with height problem

I'll check out those exhaust fans. The height limitations are due to the loft in my barn being close to the ceiling. (see pictures)

I want to clear part of this area and close in a section. The top slants with the roof, it goes from 6ft-4ft high in a 15 ft span. I know it probably means I have work to do, but that's half the fun! :D

I am familiar with LST and SCrog so do you think this is my best (only) option?

I used this to veg my Kandy Kush and a few others before the T5, but you can only put a few plants under her...maybe 4 depending on pot size. Of course, the plants will get tall and outgrow the light quickly. OK for smaller plants.

As will the pot the plant sits in...also keep in mind the distance needed from light source so plants don't burn.

Agreed, will work good in a small space. As for light distance, I use bungy cords that I can adjust easily to hang my lights.

Best light hangers is an easy one....once you go Pro Grip you will never use another type...hands down the best I have ever used by a lot.
