Hello all,

My name is Sean Larabee and I found this forum during my search for information for a project I am starting called The Bad Laws Information Center Wiki.
It is our goal to fill the Bad Laws Wiki with in depth information regarding laws that fall into any of the following categories:

1. Have a history of failure to address the issues they are designed to combat, make the issues worse or create new issues worse than those they are designed to combat.
or
2. Adversely affect the civil rights, health or safety of any of our citizens regardless of income level, social status, race, creed, religion, gender or sexual preferences.
or
3. Are in direct opposition to any of the founding principles of the United States of America.

We intend to have as much information as we can find as to who supports these laws, lobbies for them, agendas, case law and links to legal help in your area.

This project has just been started and we need all the help we can get so anyone or anyone who knows anyone that would like to help please send us a message. (we are still working on the base programming so bear with us if things don't work right just yet. We should have everything going in the next week) I could not post a link because I am new here and have not posted 15 messages yet so if you send me a message I will send you a link.

I do not smoke marijuana myself because the penalties in my home state of Michigan have become so intense. The DUID per se statue is absolutely one of the worst laws ever enacted.

My primary research around marijuana though is California's Medical Marijuana law and the DEA efforts to kill it (and ruin the lives of both patients and those running dispensaries). This to me is bad policy to an extreme as it is a blatant example of the violating State's rights, which make this policy fit all 3 of the categories listed above.

Lastly I sure wish marijuana was legal here. Alcohol has caused a great deal of damage in my life and wish I had a safer alternative such as marijuana.

Thanks for your time and thanks for this forum. There is a lot of good info here.

sounds interesting. I geuss you should then know that Michigan is in the process of voting in or voting on Medical MJ>. I am not positive when this action will take place.

well being you are in mi. lets start with michigan.i also live in this state and am permanently disabled.i can go anywhere,to any dr. and get all the opiates i want.but,i prefer marijuana.it is a crying shame that people like us have to lead a double existence to have what makes us comfortable.wht, because the government has not found a way to tax our product and keep the liberals satisfied too.you can walk in crap and clean your boots, but the smell is always there.
hope your intentions are sincere for this is a delicate subject to many here.we are not your run of the mill junkies.as a matter of fact alt of us could afford to buy our medicine off the street if we chose to do so.thats why we are here,to learn o grow our own needs and not let street thugs rule our lives.so you have my side and i'm sure there will be more.either put up or shut up.and then we will discuss this issue when we can sit down in a restaurant and have coffee and burn one.
god bless and keep the fire lit.

Sean... if you send me the link, I will post it for you.(the 15 post restriction was implimented to curb the posting of SPAM) ..
Though MP doesn't want to become an "activist" type site, and political subjects/discussions are definately 'off the table', I think your wiki project is worthy of recognition and attention, and would probably recieve some good information and comments from some of our members.

The Medical Marijuana issue is proposition 1 up for vote on November 4 2008 in Michigan. For those that are paranoid like I am go to the michigan SOS get the application for and vote by absentee ballot. The requirements to vote by absentee ballot are easy to qualify.

There is no requirement in the law that says you have to vote on any more than one issue so even if you are disillusioned with the election process and have no faith in politicians you can vote yes on Prop 1 and leave everything else blank.

We face an uphill battle here in Michigan so we need to get the word out to all our friend and family here in Michigan. Email or call anyone and everyone you know in Michigan and encourage them to vote to approve medical marijuana.

DO NOT ASSUME that your friends and family will know what Prop 1 is.

DO NOT ASSUME they will vote yes.

Have the conversation. You may change someones mind. :)

The Bad Laws Information Center project is here:

I have also set up a forum for Bad Laws here:

hxxp://forums.badlaws.info

Michigan SOS absentee ballot information can be found here:

Also I secured the domain hxxp://prop1.info this morning and I will throw up a basic page tomorrow so we can start getting the truth about MMJ out there for voters in Michigan. I will probably set it up as a blog.
