Hello all,
My name is Sean Larabee and I found this forum during my search for information for a project I am starting called The Bad Laws Information Center Wiki.
It is our goal to fill the Bad Laws Wiki with in depth information regarding laws that fall into any of the following categories:
1. Have a history of failure to address the issues they are designed to combat, make the issues worse or create new issues worse than those they are designed to combat.
or
2. Adversely affect the civil rights, health or safety of any of our citizens regardless of income level, social status, race, creed, religion, gender or sexual preferences.
or
3. Are in direct opposition to any of the founding principles of the United States of America.
We intend to have as much information as we can find as to who supports these laws, lobbies for them, agendas, case law and links to legal help in your area.
This project has just been started and we need all the help we can get so anyone or anyone who knows anyone that would like to help please send us a message. (we are still working on the base programming so bear with us if things don't work right just yet. We should have everything going in the next week) I could not post a link because I am new here and have not posted 15 messages yet so if you send me a message I will send you a link.
I do not smoke marijuana myself because the penalties in my home state of Michigan have become so intense. The DUID per se statue is absolutely one of the worst laws ever enacted.
My primary research around marijuana though is California's Medical Marijuana law and the DEA efforts to kill it (and ruin the lives of both patients and those running dispensaries). This to me is bad policy to an extreme as it is a blatant example of the violating State's rights, which make this policy fit all 3 of the categories listed above.
Lastly I sure wish marijuana was legal here. Alcohol has caused a great deal of damage in my life and wish I had a safer alternative such as marijuana.
Thanks for your time and thanks for this forum. There is a lot of good info here.
