Hello,

I'm an American living in Japan. I'm currently on my second grow. I did an outdoor grow last summer with Ch. 9 Super Haze, Neville's Haze, Jack Herer and 1 Purple White Widow. It was a lot of work, but fun and I learned a great deal. It is also absolutely fantastic to have good smoke whenever I want it now. DIY is definitely the way to go.

Currently, I have 7 plants in a 3x3 tent; 1 Bubblicious, 2 Dreamtime, 1 Medicine Man, 2 White Widow, and 1 White Domina. They are in week 3 of flower at the moment.

I'm still very much a beginner. I was participating in another forum regularly and I learned a lot there, but I felt like I didn't fit in, to put it in a nice way. So, I'm looking around at some different forums; trying to find my grow forum home.

Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

Hello, Hank

Welcome to MP forum. In order to fit in here all you need to do is be interested in growing; and being friendly is a plus.

Aren't you taking a big chance growing in Japan? Also, real names are considered risky. I was just curious and concerned, that's all.

I considered myself a beginner for a long time. I still make beginner mistakes at times. Make sure to maintain proper medium pH (soil or hydroponics), don't under or over-water, under-fertilization is easier to manage than over-fertilization. Be sure to have plenty of light (outdoors not hard to do). These are just some tips for any grower.

First, you might want to read over the various growing stickies, where the basics of growing are covered. Anything you need to know concerning growing marijuana is contained within the pages of this site. Feel free to ask questions. Good luck, and welcome.

Ohio and kon benwah...i know i didn't spell that right! Welcome!

Yes, it's a calculated risk. Penalties would be severe, but I don't reckon the chances of getting caught are all that high. Btw, Hank Chinaski isn't my real name. It was a pseudonym used by the poet Charles Bukowski, of whom I am fond.

I've been reading a lot on the various forums for about a year and a half. (Note my join date for this site.) I feel I've got a fairly good grasp of the basics, but experience is the real teacher and I need to get more grows under my belt before I leave the ranks of noob grower.

Thanks for the warm welcomes, Alistair and The Chef!

Thank you.

I did a grow thread on another forum and it was pic heavy. I like to post a lot of pics and will in the future. Tomorrow I will put up a few of my last grow and I'll put up some of my current grow when they finish in like 5 weeks.

Yes, it's a greeting and is used like 'nice to meet you' when meeting for the first time, but is also used between people who have known each other for years. A more literal translation would be something like 'I hope you treat me favorably'.

keep an eye out for my next wife over there

Welcome :ciao: :48:

This is a great community!

:welcome: Looking forward to checking out your grow.

Welcome to MP my far east friend....I spent 3 years in Japan in the late 80's...Okinawa. Simply beautiful....never made it to mainland but did get to Korea a few times and the Philippines many times.
I remember the weed there sucked though...the penalties were so high if caught. Which I find odd for a culture that allowed you to go into the pharmacy and purchase what wld be prescription drugs here in the states over the counter...lol
Now Magic Mushrooms were all over the place there....the weed was about Mex shwagg grade.
Be safe bro...

Hi Hank, we are growing some of the same varieties. The Medicine Man and WW. We will have to compare..Are you going to do a grow journal? I hope so.

welcome out from the shadows, we are glad you are here!
Peace!

Hank, I thought that either Hank or yoroshiku onegaishimasu was your real name. I goofed on that one.

Hey Hank, wecome to MP! It'll be fun to look at all your pics.

Wait...did someone say Sushi? Deal me in!

Navy or Marines? I was on the Yokosuka Naval base 90-92 and also went to Korea twice and the P.I. many times. Never been to Okinawa, though. If I was going to move from where I'm at, it would be in the opposite direction, to Hokkaido instead of Okinawa. Fewer people, more nature is my natural gravitation.

Yeah, mushrooms were legal when I moved here 10 years ago, but were banned after a year or two, unfortunately.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everybody!

Welcome Hank! I'm a big Bukowski fan myself. My older brother and I sometimes get together, get real baked, and listen to some of his audio recordings. Be safe!

Air Force....Kadena Air Base. Any GI that spent time on Okinawa knows one place...BC Street....loaded with bars and clubs and called that for Bring Cash...lol
If you have been to the PI then you have been changed for life....:D It was the most off the hook place I have ever been to in my life...like living like a Rock Star on a Burger Flippers budget.

I had two grow spots for last summer's outdoor grow. One in the back of an unused agricultural plot where I had some wispy Neville's Haze plants and some short little Jack Herers. Here is one JH.

The JH were, unfortunately, very susceptible to bud rot.

The JH were all very small and it came out like an oz. good bud and an oz. rotty bud. Weed is pretty scarce around here and a good friend who is broke as hell these days begged me for it, so instead of throwing the rotty bud away, I gave it all to him. He smoked every last moldy trichome.

Ahhh, finally some bud of my own. Edit: Actually, that might be the moldy bud.

This is the wispy Neville's Haze pheno at the field spot. The other spot was on a low lying island in the middle of a river. I had 1 Purple White Widow, 3 Super Haze and 3 Neville's Haze there in the river spot.

Here is the PWW, which got pretty big (maybe 6 1/2' x 5'), but was just junk. Lots of loose single buds mixed in with lots of tiny little leaves, and weak. I still have it bagged up and plan to make bubble hash. (My extraction bags arrived today!)

This is a NH, I think.

Another NH.

Close-up of NH. Only this one showed any purple. All the NH is smoking very nicely, though.

This is one of the Super Hazes

One of the Super Hazes showed some purple, as well. Very pretty.

Just a few more pics I had mixed in with my grow pics. These flowers were at my river grow site. There were lots of them actually. A very nice native perennial wildflower. I don't know the English name for them offhand.

The mountain I live at the foot of. This is the view from the river bank outside of my grow site.

And....the beginning of the indoor grow currently in operation.

Thanks for taking a look. :)
