Hi Guys

I was looking through here trying to find the answer to this but didnt see anything so sorry if I double post.

Where should I be taking the temp for my grow room? I know that I need to keep the room between 75 and 85 degrees F, but nothing every really says where to take the temp.

A little info about my grow room so hopefully you can point me in the right direction. I'm using a extra bathroom for my grow room that is 5.5'x7'. Right now I am growing in the tub so that I have a good drain under the pots. I have a 400W Metal Halide lamp that is 24-26 in from the top of the plant. As of right now I don't have a incoming vent but I do keep the door open and a standing fan circulating the air.

When I first put in my thermometer I had it on the far side of the bathroom and was getting good temps but I noticed one day that it was much hotter at the plants level than where the thermometer was at. I moved the thermometer to the side of the tub so that it is under the lamp and at plant level.

I'm starting to think that it should be moved from here but I want sure where exactly I should be taking the temp from? If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ideally you want your temps to be taken at the plant. Even better to take temps at potentially the hottest part of the plant, the tops (cause they would be closest to the lights), and adjust air flow from there.

What I did is went down to walmart and picked up a few small thermometers (about 5 bucks each or less) and stuck them in various locations in the room.

Okay cool so then I have mine set in the right place. I guess I'll keep it where its at and do what I am doing.

I have mine hanging down to the top of the plants directly under the light. I figure this is the hottest area in the room and keep it about 85-86 degrees. But I am running CO2 so they like the temps a little high.
