fun trimming

1 down.was wondering about using a sm. tupperware storage container vs. mason jars.maybe 12x12x4 in. deep..less jars to open daily.. way less fragile..any thoughts on this???fun+rewarding trimming,can't wait for next one..:icon_smile:

I used the air tight tupperwares last year and kept a hygrometer in each one. They worked well, but after about six months the RH started dropping below cure levels. Still smokes good, but definitely a little over dry. They've been in there for around 10 months or more and my RH is in the 40s in all odd them. Held it around 55-57 for the first 6 months though. Plan to use them again for the initial cure stages, but put it all in mason jars once I get it locked in at 57. Just my .02

I don't know what it is, but I just don't like to store my bud in plastic. How much bud do you have that opening jars is a chore?

not sure yet,but if i don't give any plants away,maybe 4 lbs.+ = 60 lg. mason jars +/-. = colon ache

THANKS s-loc, what do you use to control R.H.??? Also I trimmed all buds immediately after chopping. Now hanging 2 days @ 55% R. H.. They're a:icon_smile: ll crusty on the outside. Time to brown bag tonight. How many days till jar/Tupperware time?? 2-3 ?? Burp time is about 15 mins. Daily?? How many days +/-till 1 min. Burps??

I kept them hanging in my garage until the stems would snap with decent pressure. Was about 4 or so days til tupperware. RH in there depended on weather outside/raining/etc. After that I went straight into the Tupperware. RH of the buds was in the sixties after it leveled out. I then just burped the containers multiple times a day to exchange the air. Watched the RH slowly drop in the container over about a week or two until I got down to about 57 then stopped burping. Open them to grab nugs out occasionally was really the only burping they get after that. Hope that helps. It's just the way I did it an seemed to work well aside from the long term like I already mentioned.

:woohoo:Well that is a chunk. Maybe gallon jars. I can get 1-1-2 to 2-1/2 ozs in a quart jar depending on how dense the buds are. That would be 16 or so jars. Maybe it is my imagination, but I think bud stored in plastic tastes like plastic.

last year, got 1.5 lbs in 18 jars.did not pack and there was some settling.at least 40, high of 60.it just keeps on coming.where did you find 1 gal. mason jars??? thanks:icon_smile:

The one other thing I would add is that while you are initially burping and lowering the RH, I would make sure to leave room in whatever containers you end up using for air, that in turn you will be exchanging when burping. Not to pack them full to the brim. Again just my .02 and I'm relatively new to this.

I think marijuana might take on the smell of plastic if stored in it too early in the cure process.

I agree with ya THG. I always put mine in Glass Jars. Plus the triches really stick to plastic like glue.

Hey hemp, searched L O N G for 1 gal. Masons.. (3) options;

ANCHOR (1) gal jar, w/metal wire carrying handle, w/ wood doweled handle, @ the WEBsraurant store.. 7.29 ea..

BALL collectors jars, (1) gal., 13.04 ea.

BORMIOLI ROCCO 169 oz.storage jars w/ gasketed lid.. (VERY good reviews), 14.50 ea.

Really liked the tupperware idea,but am to worried on plastic smell thing.

Any other suggestions on holding MORE w/ less JARS ????:icon_smile:

Mine from last year like I said has been over 10 months in the Tupperware and I can't taste anything weird. Neither has any of the tons of people who have had any. No ones said anything negative about it.
