Hey everyone, let me first say i am a noob to this site so sorry if I posted something thats already been posted. but im plaining on building a grow room hopefully soon and want to get everything ready for it, so i started with the most important thing first...the light!, now i see that we need a HPS bulb for a nice good grow,and i was at homedepot today and saw that floodlights run those bulbs. i was wondeirng can i some how convert the floodlight to go on a cord that i can just plug into a normal household outlet?? if so how do you??

It was 150 or something like that, but they had the 70w as well... I'm trying to frist think how big my grow room will be then it'll decided on what light.

Let me ask you, a 70w one, what size grow box will that be good enough for??

Go as big as ur growroom will let you, Space is he one of the biggest problems in indoor growing, so go big and as far as lighting you can always add more lights as you go. Trust me once you harvest and you run out of the good stuff you'll wish youd use the most space available..:aok:

not a big one at all.
a 70w hps is only good for the right situation.
a 70w hps, plus a few 120w CFL's could produce a good yeild.
Its all about how many Lumens you have in total.
I was good in Lumen terms, with just CFL's. I bought the 70w hps for the Light penitration.....so the lower buds would fill in.
so hmmm, i would say that a 70w hps, would be good for ideally 1.5 sq feet.
2.5 sq feet if you raised it up a bit ( like me), and add in some CFLs.

OK thanks for the information guys, I gotta see where I'll be putting my growroom at ( either garage, attic, or my closet ) thing with the closet I have ALOT of clothes in there so it'll be hard for a decent size room...

hahhahah yea I am highly considering moving my clothes to my sisters room that is not in use and using my closet for the grow room

Its all about how many Lumens you have in total.

it's about intensity not total Lumens per foot

True,
but if you had 90000 lumens....thats going to meet your needs.
you can still measure in lumens how much you will need, and that normally gets the job done.
