Do I have to pre-mix for a certain amount of time? I'm used to using these weak Xnutrients, and just mixing and pouring in a matter of minutes, considering they are PH buffered right out of the bottle.

I'm looking to step up, and see if there's anyway to produce a better smell / taste / size in harvest. I'm thinking using the Gold line from Dutch Masters and keeping with Bloombastic.

What do you guys think? If I'm correct most of you recommend the Flora Nova 3 part or something yes?

I would love any and all thoughts. I did a search in the forum for "Dutch Master" and only 1 title result, so here I am. :D

Haha. I remember years ago I tried Dutch. I was sold on all this hype. Since then I have tried sooo many different things. In the end, I always went back to the tried and true General Hydroponics micro/bloom only when using bottled nutrients. It's just too easy. No PH'ing, no additives. Just measure and feed.

Always buy in the 6gal jugs w/ a spigot. The cost savings will stack up yearly.

I have also tried numerous nutesbut like GH best. I buy in 1 gal jugs, which is still a good buy. I can get gallons on Amazon for around $30 with free shipping.

I personally don't think that you are going to see a lot of difference in smell/taste/size of harvest by simply changing nutes.

Are the Dutch Master nutes organic?

Naw it's not organic, I do not believe.

It seems everyone likes the FloraNova series eh? Well I can't argue with everyone, lol! :D

@THG: How could I see difference in those areas? Supplimentals?

Not the Flora Nova, the GH 3 part. However I do use Flora Nova Grow but don't like the Flora Nova Bloom. I use the Lucas formula which uses only 2 parts of the GH Flora series--the micro and the bloom.

I am not a big believer in supplements. Ihave tried several through the years and never really found anything that seemed to make a difference. Smell, taste, and size are more strain related, like NC said, However, making sure that your space is dialed in and keeping your plants stress free will help them reach their full potential.

I have not used it but have read about the line of nutes I would give them a try myself good choose so for I have used advanced nutience ph perfect line , and foxfarms or aroud half of foxfarms and I like both.

Reading up on the Lucas System.. it says if you use FloraNova Bloom to do 8ml to your mix. But ... does this go with the FloraMicro and FloraBloom? Or, do I not buy the FloraBloom, and instead buy FloraNova Bloom?

That was one part I was confused about. I'm thinking of just giving this a try! :D

floranova bloom is the Lucas Formula in a bottle, 8mL per gallon = full strength Lucas

Oh.. so you don't even use / buy the micro either?? Hmm crazy..

DGF, I don't kbnow where that quote came from, but Flora Nova Bloom is not the Lucas formula in a bottle. I can absolutely guarantee you that the Flora Nova Bloom in actual use is nothing like the Lucas formula using GH Flora (no Nova) Micro and Bloom.

I like the FloraNovab Grow and use it when I am growing hydro for vegging. I like the convenience of a 1 part nutient. However, the Flora Nova Bloom does not give me the same results. I go with the Lucas fomula for flowering and use Flora Micro and Bloom and use in a 1 part micro to 2 part bloom ratio for blooming (around 8 ml micro and 16ml bloom per gal depending on how much food the plants like). I also use Cal-Mag in flowering.

And for Veg you do use grow? lol so confused :)

I understand the Lucas formula, that seems simple enough. It also seems like there's 2 options.. the 2 part and the 1 part. Both are the only things used in veg and flower.

So it seems you DO use the Grow, when Lucas doesn't.. for your veg, but I'm not sure if that's all you use, or specifically... But you go entirely Lucas Formula 2-part when you flower.

That's what I'm thinking so far.. sorry if I'm being ignorant on this matter lol. :)

So, you know my medium.. I'm using Sunshine Advanced Mix #4 which is made up of Peat Moss, Coir, Perlite, a Multi-species Blend of Endomycorrhizae. What would be my best route of choice, going from using the Xnutrients line to wanting something "more"...

My hydro store guy says he uses and really recommends Dutch Masters Gold line.. he's the one that sold me on Xnutrients if I was looking for best bang for buck, but without price being considered, he recommended the Gold line over everything else in his shop (he has any and everything I've ever seen online lol.. GH, FF .. all of em)

I'm just looking for my "go to" nute, and I do not feel like I'm doing the best that I could be with my current nutrient. :confused2:

I use currently 1tb per 1.5gal of micro for veg. Flower is 1tb micro, 1tb bloom(sometimes 2tb) per 1.5gal. I ammend the base mix at a rate of 1.5cups per 7.3gal of medium with fine grade dolomite lime. That takes care of the cal/mag the whole cycle. And don't need to PH unless your water sucks.

Firstly, thanks Nouvellechef, that was quite nice of ya to be specific like that. So you feed at 1.5 cups per feeding then after you've mixed it up? And you mix up 1.5 gal at a time? Also, you use JUST the micro during veg?

I'm just trying to get a nute line and feeding thought process down before I start this next run. I really appreciate all the comments you have all made so far. Thanks for taking the time! :aok:

The BIGGEST misconception in the MJ growing world is Nutrients.
Ask 10 people, get 10 different answers.

Everyone is looking for the magic nuit that will elevate them to the next level.
There is no such nutrient line out there.

IMO, all the nuit lines will work, given time with them. Most folks are not happy with their harvest, blame there nuits, because their buddy grew some bomb and was using different nuits.

The best plan is to pick a line, and stick with it.

Personally, I use GH 3 part. I, like NC, have tried them all, and GH is what I went back too.
GH is cheap....even cheaper if you buy it in 15 gal containers.

Go Bigger NC. 6 gal was yesterdays bargain haha.

N.A.S.A. uses GH, that should say it all.

Yeah, I just feel that the Xnutrient line, is indeed a weak line and not structured very well. I don't know why, I just feel like it is indeed not enough. I started with it just to start with it. It's the cheapest nute I've seen on the market lol. I mean, I was very happy with my harvest, so that's not the case. Matter of fact, I was feeding every single day for most of their lives, and nute burned the crap out of em with Xnutrients lol, but now I know better and this grow is going a lot better. Just feel deep inside that ANY line (Dutch Master, GH, etc) is going to be at least a little bit better than what I'm using now.

Thanks for your comments NorCal.. it sure makes me think I'm not that far behind in the nute game, but overall.. I still have that feeling that I want to find my "home / goto" nute. Not a magic solution that's best bar none, that I know won't happen. Just something about this line is weak, and I think I can do better.

I just can't move the 55 drums, or I would go that route for sure. 15 are darn heavy.
I need to move..........

We have a little forklift I got at a auction. We use it for pallets of restaurant supplies. The drums are strapped to pallet. Your moving on up now. Time for the big toys. Will pay for itself over time. Can move and buy whole pallets of Sunshine too.

What we are trying to tell you is that there nothing "more" to go to. Nutes are only going to do so much. There is not a special one or combination of ones that are going to make any big difference...regardless of what your grow store guy says.

I did not like not using the Lucas formula in veg because IMO, my plants did not get enough of the nutes in the veg formulas like N. So, I use the stand alone nute Flora Nova Grow for vegging. Conversely, I found that the flowering plants did not seem to need the bloom formula when I was using the 3 part Flora series. So, I run the Lucas systemin flowering along with a little Cal-Mag. The 1 part nutrient is NOT the Lucas system. The Lucas sysyem uses 2 parts of the GH Flora 3 par series. Even though GH makes both the Flora NOVA and the GH Flora 3 part eties, these are different lines of nutes, just as Fox Farm and most other companies make different nutrient lines.

WAYYYY to scared to start moving pallets of pro mix and 55 gallon drums of nuits around! Not so much trippin on the police as much as the jackers.
Crazy world we live in my friend.
