Distance from seedlings???

My 1000 watt Mh just arrived and I am installing it in my room. I will be planting my seeds today. My room is 3'6" wide By 4'6" long I have fifteen pots in their. I was wondering how high off the seedlings my light should be? Do you think I will need to rotate my plants?

my 250 mh is about 10" from canopy of my plants. I'd say that considering how light intensity increases and decreases exponentially as you move it closer or farther from your plants, that you'd be safe at about 24" from the tops of your plants. If this does not satisfy you, perhaps you could use the old back of hand trick...when it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your plants, and time to back the light off a little bit. PS, start looking for a mh2hps conversion bulb for when flower time comes..hope this helps! best of luck for heavy harvests!
