Nutrients

:hairpull:

oOOOooo this thread could go on for some time!
Ok, heres the way I see this one through my cynical anti commercialistic eye.
Plant food - Commercial stuff made for people growing house plants, targetted at those who just want to "water/feed the plants"
Nutrients - the same stuff but targetted at people who understand plant nutrition.
Fertiliser - The same stuff again but more organic, basically Sh%%

Best to use, depends on your experience,
beginner - plant food
more experienced - fertiliser
Know it all/Understands plant nutritional needs - Nutrients

This was light hearted and is not meant to be definitive, educational or factual.
Peace W

Okay, so I am a first timer here and I have a question. I have 5 plants in total and they are each about 1 and a half weeks old. 4 of them have wilted yellow spots on the tips of the leaves, but not every leaf. The one that doesn't have yellow spots has very small white spots on the center of the leaves. I am using organic fertilized soil. I didn't realize that I shouldn't add any nutes until 2-3 weeks, but I did about 3 days ago and yesterday. Could this be the cause? Nute burn? I flushed the soil pretty well last night and sprayed the leaves with filtered tap water.
On another note, the temp in the room is slightly high (about 80 but in the upper 90's when I put under my lights. I work during the day and I am afraid to leave the lights on all day and night, so I grow outside all day until about 7pm and then I put in grow box from 7pm until 3am. I have plenty of lights (about 450w output using cfls. I have an intake fan, exhaust fan, light-cooling fan, and another fan to help circulate air. White refelctive paint also on the inside.
What am I dong wrong? I mean I know the temp is a little high but it doesn't seem ungrowable, as I have another plant (not canibus) that seems to grow fine just in the window. I don't know the ph of the soil but it's new soil and the plants are still young. Can I resolve nute burn if that's what it is? There are no holes in the leaves so I doubt there are bugs. Please help! My babies are dieing!!

If I were you I would start a thread with that title under sick plants and problems. You will be more likely to get answers. IMO.:aok: Also when you do it post pics . Real quick though. the yellow tips are probably nute burn. At that young tender age they don't need them yet as most soil has enough it them to sustain them for weeks. They need to be started out gradually with 1/4 strength of recomended dose. And at that age ( which I def. don't recomend) even an 1/8 of rec dose. You did the right thing by flushing them. They spots on the leaves could be caused by a couple of things. When nuteing did you get any on the leaves and 2nd did you put them back under the lights with beads of water on the leaves. Drops of water act as prisms and magnify the light which will burn the leaves. there are lots of questions that need to be answered like are they in direct sunlight when outside? things like that.Near 90 is way to hot. At 90 degrees a plant will stop growing and worry more about survival at that point. Afan inside the box will just blow the heat around ansd not cool anything. That's where you are getting the high temps from. You need an exchange of air ( fresh air in and old air out) to bring those temps down. Just because soil is new doesn't mean the PH shouldn't be out of whack. What kind of soil is it? Is it hot? Which means did it come pre-nuted? If you answer some of the questions we will be able to help a lot more sucessfully. Now lets talk drainage. How good of drainage does your soil have. The water needs to run right through. The roots need air pockets otherwise no oxygen gets to them. If all the air pockets stay full of water you are literally choking the roots. Hope some of this helps. But like I said answer a few of these questions in a new thread under sick plants and problems and plenty of people will chime in. Good luck. I just noticed that I said real quick at the top and it wasn't real quick at all:rofl:
