creating new grow room input welcomed

It's going to be a 3' x 4' x 5 1/2' grow room......It needs to be very cool....I'd like to use really good fluorecents.....I need air in and air out....
already I have a cieling bathroom exhaust fan....I may use it for air in......cause it comes from the cieling from my old grow room...so I just trying to use it again....so air through the cieling...by this inverted fan...can't have light leaks through it though..I also have an inline 4' fan...I can use for air intake....then I could get a 6' inline fan...for air out...right? ..So what kind of lights and how many.....and what to get for ventilation to go with the two fans I already have previously mentioned....
I plan to grow columier plants like satori...two wide and 5 long...total of maybe 10 plants....

Is this grow room for Vegging or Flowering or both? If its for flowering IMO you should use HPS its the best bang for your buck plus you'll find that you don't get enough light penetration with floro's when flowering unless you grow really small plants which by the sounds of it your not! If its for veg I'd use T5's as they put out the most lumens per sq/ft as far as lumens go.If its for both I'd go in the direction of a dual digital Ballast that way you can use MH for veg and a HPS for flowering a 600w Ballast would be perfect for that space! What ever lights you do choose to go with remember that for veg you should have at least 3500 lumens per sq/ft and for flowering you should have at least 5000 lumens per sq/ft! Hope that helps a little!

yes it does help.....I have a 600 watt....dual digital ballest thats not air cooled.....it could be converted into one.....I could use it...and have good venting....the grow room will be for veg...and flowering....I will do one grow at a time in it...
I rent this place and can't tear up stuff....It's a basement about 600 square feet...i'm planning on drawing air from the basement into the grow room...and vent it out into the basement.....how can you help me with this?

If your going to do it that way I think the 600w is your best bet, as far venting the air back into the basement you'll need to get a carbon scubber there's a good DIY scubber in the DIY section of this forum, but you can vent the air back into the basement its how I have my setup!

great news....I located a 6' cooling reflecter for $85.00....it says it takes the hot air....from the light....and not the grow room.....if so I need something else to add air to the rest of the grow room....like the inverted bathroom exhaust fan in the cieling...hang some flex from it....and I can use my 4' inline fan to remove air....both the bathroom fan and the inline fan are compatible for pushing and pulling air in and out....I take it the carbon filter is for odor purposes only...? I'll check out the forums and prices on carbon filters...

For $185.00...I can get a 6' inline fan...and carbon filter combo.......so there would then be a 6 inch fan removing air from the 600 watt light....and I'd have a 6' inline fan with compatible carbon filter....removing air and odor out of the other place in the grow area......I'd have the bathroom exhaust fan and my 4' inline fan to put air into the grow room......so 185.00 + 85.00 = $270.00....Then cost of plywood and some 2x4's.....$30.00.....so for about 300.00 dollars I will have a grow room again? anything else you can think of thats amiss....looks like things are taking shape.

Instead of using plywood I'd look into panda film its cheap and very easy to work with plus its already reflective! I make all my grow cabinets out of panda film and 1x2's and the best part is I can take down the cabinet in minutes as well as put it up!

Phatpharmer.....I looked at your pics...very nice...and your grow room also....I probly need a 50' foot long roll by about 4' wide....I think it's about $45.00.....I don't think a 25' roll is quite enough for two sides a top and a bottom and two ends...for 3'w x 4'l x 5 1/2'h ...grow room.....so then i can purchase 6' inline fan for $25.00....that would hook up to my new air cooled 6' reflector hood....which is $ 85.00 which will replace the non cooled reflector hood of my 600 watt light.......I have the flex hose....So I will have a 4" inline fan and bathroom exhaust fan...feeding air into the grow room....I'd probly want a 8" inline fan or a 6" inline fan to remove air from the room.....and I can build a carbon filter from the instructions in the DIY forum...If I can find that carbon stuff...

The carbon can be found at pet stores as well as most good hydroponic Stores! Sounds like your right on your way good luck and keep me posted on how you make out!

Yeah i used a staple gun to put the panda film up! I think you'll find the panda film very easy to work with!

Phatpharmer, I'm changing the demensions of my grow room....It will be 7' long...4' wide.....and 7' tall......there will be a 4' x 4' area for flowering....and a 3' long x 4' wide.....area for vegging....cloning....growing seedlings......using all the same materials already discused as far as ventilation..and....heat....and panda film...1" x 2" boards...I need to learn about cloning and if it can be done....for growing in soil?

Panda is a pretty heavy plastic sheeting that is black one side, white the other side. The black side, white side in reflecting, it keeps out keeps the light from penetrating. Better than Mylar for ease of use and virtually the same reflection statistics, with no "hot-spots."

Lemme ask, is that inverted ceiling fan pulling air from the attic? If so, isn't it going to be a little hot? Cooling that 600w in that space will be a challenge anyway without adding hot air, so I assume you're pulling air from inside your house. Good luck and grow well.

Hi pencil head....the inverted , bathroom exhaust fan..is an idea I found here...4u2smoke I believe has used them....to me the bathroom fan .....is really a type of inline fan...that worked well at my last grow place...I have here at my new place.. part of the cieling...from that growroom....and it has my fan mounted in the plywood..but now that I want to build my grow room with panda film....I may or may not use it.....with this new set up... I was not going to draw air from an attic..it would be the air from the house down in the basement where the grow room will be...thanks for asking.

I will put some pics up....should be placing an order for the grow room materials...sometime next week...I gave my 5 freebie beens...[actually they have been growing for 8 weeks]....from attitude to a friend and were going to build the same grow room....we both think it sounds awsome...
