Have you ever had a lung xray later in life during a yearly check up?

It's been 10 years or so, but at the time my lungs looked fine. Not even much scaring from the two packs a day I smoked for 20+ years. I also worked on repairing trains and subway cars for years. Lots of asbestos in those things. Wish my liver was as resilient...

I discovered 5 48"X48" pieces of drywall against the wall behind the camera today. That made for quick work with the vertical sections. One more board to cut and hang. Then I can start on the stairwell. The room is already starting to hold the heat coming from the first floor. It was 38 degrees and very windy this afternoon, and I was hanging drywall in shorts and a t-shirt.

I need to make doors of some kind for the openings. I'm thinking hinges at the top with a hook to hold them open would provide the easiest access. Haven't really spent much time thinking about it, though.

The wood by the stairs is going to the dump, but we have freezing rain here tonight, so I'm content letting it sit there until the weather improves. The remaining wood is for scaffolding in the stairwell.

I'm a little concerned about the OSB floor. If it gets wet for any length of time, the game is over. I will have to replace it. My plan is to seal it with an oil based primer, then paint it to provide additional protection, then cover it with water proof vinyl planks. I think I already have everything but the vinyl planks, but the prices for those are all over the place. I'm just watching for a sale on some pink panels with an image of FJB stenciled on each one for $0.19 per square foot. Just have to be patient : )

I’ve been 25 years in construction cladder/roofer, went for health check and I have arthritis in lower back hands and knees. Lungs are fecked full of scaring never wore masks for first 15 years or so.

I've seen what happens to men who didn't take precautions. It's not pretty.

It's been a busy week. I haven't done anything in the attic for several days, and almost let my autos and freaks die of thirst. I'm too ashamed to post pics : )

On top of work, our dog went on a cat food, cat treat eating rampage for several days, and now has to be walked like 10 times a day or he poops on the carpet. Sometimes he poops on the carpet immediately after the walk, actually.

Been giving them Jack's Classic 1/2-3/4 teaspoons per gallon plus around 15mg per gallon calimag since veg started. All growing in coco-perlite except the dark green freak. That one was in a smaller pot with potting soil before I moved it to the larger one with coco-perlite.

I failed to water them this week until last night, and instead of drooping like you would expect, all of the fan leaves started to dry up and die. I got half a bucket of dead leaves off the autos. Only a few off the freaks, though. That means to me it's not the amount of water, but the amount of nitrogen. They need more. Am I doing something wrong with the Jack's? Should I give them 2 teaspoon per gallon for a while and see what happens?

I couldn't handle the cold in the attic this morning. Arthritis in my hands was killing me. Ended up stapling radiant barrier over the access ports and plugging in the little personal heater I sometimes use in grow tents. Temperature went from 35 deg to 55 deg about 30 minutes after that.

I spent the rest of the day on the stairwell, mostly trying to get reasonably flat areas to hang the drywall on. Everything was crooked or uneven, especially around the door. Of course, I made that even worse when I installed an oversize door that extended past where the drywall should be mounted.

I still have a little work to do on the door, but I stopped when I noticed how cramped and swollen my hands were getting. I used a brad nailer for almost all the wood work. It's usually driving in screws that causes them to swell like that. I hope this isn't the new normal. I did wear a dust mask when I hung the insulation, and as uncomfortable as it was I didn't cough once.

I should be out of drywall and insulation tomorrow, and will have to wait until I can get the truck to the dump before I can get anymore. I forgot to include the two end walls when I calculated how much I would need.
