i read a post somewhere, that if timed right outdoors, anyone can harvest a spring crop.
any info on this ?

i remember last yr. a lot of folks had problems including me, putting them outdoors from 24/0 and the plants showing sex too early and then revegging.
i started sometime in march last yr. so this yr. if i start early, i will go with 18/6 to prevent early flowering and reveg.

although it helped to weed out the males quick, those that revegged looked bad. whether it hurts or not i dont know.

Couple a things, Spring crops aren't that hard to pull off, but they do sometimes require a shade structure to help regulate photo period towards the end of flowering. Otherwise plants can bolt and or full on reveg. They will flower fine in the spring time, and as long as they can be kept warm and dry... Everything should work itself out.

A lot of people around my area, use hoop houses or small greenhouses. That will do a couple of things for you, protection from the cold for one, protection from rain - hail storms, as well as raising the ambient temperature 5-10 degrees on average sometimes more. They can also be covered with a light blocking material, to assist in keeping the photo period regulated.

A hoop house is easy and cheap to build, pvc, rebar, and some visqueen plastic. One thing I will say, make sure you take all things into account when you use a hoop house or green house. Focus on ventilation and circulation, plants will rot just as fast in damp stagnant air as they will sitting through a big rain storm.

Also, that lighting schedule is steep... I would play with lighting schedules around 16-8 or maybe even 15-9, there are a couple a strains that will roll under 14-10 even. The best way I have found to prevent preflowering to bad, is to simply use some cfl's in the early morning to take some of the dark out of the night.

I know, lighting up our grow spots isn't on everyones to do list, but keep in mind, cfl lighting and "possibly" christmas tree lights can be used to prevent preflowering. I have never verified the christmas lighting claims... But, I have used the cfl's to help cut shadows as well as prolonging my lighting period. ( Despite beliefs, it doesn't take an abnormally large volume of light either ) I use 2 80watt bulbs every 8 feet, hung above the ladies. Another friend of mine uses 2 40 watt bulbs directly over the individual plant canopies, he has good success too.

It is paramount to use the lights early in the morning though, less people awake to see anything for one... The idea is to run them in a cycle, slowly letting the dark get longer into 12-12 and flower.

Anyways, I am totally over medicated and rambling... Best of luck!!

if you can start the flowering inside and then when they go out they have a head start
